17/02/2015 Duração: 02minDescendants of those who fought in the 1915 Gallipoli Campaign are being invited to take part in a London ceremony marking its 100th anniversary. One former serviceman has been telling BBC London 94.9's David Friend why he will be taking part. Helen Grant MP, who is the minister responsible for WW1 commemorations told us: "We are inviting descendants, whatever their nationality, to apply for free tickets to watch from a reserved area and actually join in the march past the Cenotaph. The public too are invited to come along." Holocaust Memorial Day: "I thought there aren't any Jews alive"
26/01/2015 Duração: 03minBBC London 94.9's David Friend has been to meet Sabina Miller. The 92 year old survived the Holocaust having escaped the Warsaw Ghetto. She spent the winter of 1942/43 hiding in woodland in Poland. After changing her identity Sabina was questioned by the Gestapo three times but eventually "cleared" of being Jewish. Sabina was the only member of her family to survive the war. She has no photographs of her parents or brothers and sister. The only possession she has from before the war is a red cardigan given to her by her mother in 1938.
