Andrew Blaser was a decathlete in college, finding his way to the little-known sport of skeleton after graduating. Now he's one of the top skeleton racers in the United States and aiming for a spot in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. Well, that World Series turned out to be pretty good! Pretty pretty pretty...pretty good! If you could ignore most of the stuff surrounding the teams playing in it, that is. As continuing the 3SYO postseason tradition, I'm joined by OG friend of the pod Kevin McCaffrey to break down the major events in Games 3-6 of the Fall Classic. We pick up where last week's episode left off toasting Series MVP Jorge Soler and cringing our way through the unforgivably racist tomahawk chop that provided a soundtrack to his otherwise magnificent at bats. In 2019, a group of transgender hockey players from across North America turned what started as emails written about a dream into a team -- Team Trans. They met up in Boston to play a select squad from Boston Pride Hockey, and what happened was a series of two hard-fought games. The impact, the inspiration and the symbol of a group of seventeen players was priceless. In November, Team Trans plans to head back to the ice. The venue will be the stomping grounds of "Badger Bob" Johnson -- Madison, Wisconsin. Jenna Burkert didn't want to be the stereotype of a female wrestler. Growing up always wrestling boys, she saw how people portrayed girls and women in the sport as masculine and, yes, possibly gay or lesbian. As Burkert has come out of the closet she has embraced who she is and found love with her wife. She's also found acceptance not just across her sport, but in rural Michigan, where she went to high school. This episode was recorded immediately after Game 5 of the NLCS which means that D.Gil was hoping it would be a Braves pennant-clinching celebration. As you can tell by the title, that didn't happen. Instead, we dive headlong into D.Gil's wounded Atlanta sports fan psyche and wonder if the Braves could possibly blow a 3-1 lead to the Dodgers in consecutive years. Along the way, we express our doubts about the team's leadership, suggest Brian Snitker could lose his job over another epic collapse, and castigate Max Fried for a horrific pitching performance in a potential clinching game. All this for a team that's still leading the series. Yikes. At least the Braves already clinched the title of most racist chant in sports.
