LPFPod - Episode 034 -Anya Packer
15/10/2019 Duração: 01h06minI first saw women play hockey in 1995 when the IIHF hosted the 1st Pacific Rim tournament in the rink I worked. National teams from Canada, China, Japan and the United States. While Canada would win that tournament my love and support for women's hockey would grow from there. This week my guest is the Executive Director of the National Women's Hockey Players Association, Anya Packer. We started the conversation about how she became a fan of the sport, her playing career as well as her role now. Being an LGBT podcast we obviously also talk about her coming out, her struggles with mental health and how her team helped her in the coming out process. The photo is of Anya (On the right) and her wife Madison on the left. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

We spoke a few weeks ago about her coming out, growing up playing sports and finally playing the sport that she fell in love with as a kid. Some other mentions are 49ers Pride, the great Niner teams of the 80's and 90's and where she sees women's football going in the future. LPFPod - Episode 030 - Micah Porter
17/09/2019 Duração: 51minOriginally posted on September 17, 2019. I have followed Micah for a while on social media and was excited to get him on as a guest on the show. Not only does he have a life that is unique to some as a man who came out in his late 30's after being married for years with two children. He was also a high school coach where he worked with his wife at the time. His coming out has been a long process, even managing to get through his own decision to try gay conversion therapy with his pastor at a local church. I love how his coming out has helped students and others he has worked with, not just with sexual identity but with other common teen problems. We wrap up our time together talking about his involvement with the awesome group "You Can Play". I hope you enjoy this week's episode. Learn more about your ad choices. LPFPod - Episode 029 - Athena Del Rosario
10/09/2019 Duração: 01h01minI got together with Athena Del Rosario a few weeks ago in our local library and had a discussion about her life. Transitioning in the 90's was tough without doctors and the internet but Athena found a way to start the process before seeing her first doctor. After the 2008 recession, Athena used a short stint in the adult film industry to help pay for her transition. She would return to college in her late twenties and return to sports. During the podcast we do spend about 10 minutes doing free advertising for the beautiful UC-Santa Cruz campus (Go Banana Slugs) and we talk about her involvement with the potential olympic sports, Beach Handball. Enjoy our conversation. Like, share and retweet and share our conversation. Please rate and review to help spread the love on Apple Podcast. Check out Athena on twitter at @MsGoalieQueen. LPFPod - Episode 021 - Andy Brennan
02/07/2019 Duração: 01h02minOver a month ago Andy Brennan came out on Instagram telling the world that he was gay. What is so surprising to me is that it was less than a year that he really accepted who he was. This episode we talk about growing up in Australia with a loving family, playing sports and continuing to progress in his football career. We spoke late last week, and this is coming out only a few short days from recording and right before he scored his first goal and tying the game right before the half. Gully would finish strong and ended up winning this weekend. Congrats to Andy and the team. Thank you also goes to Matt Johnson for providing the photos for this episode here and on social media. I enjoyed my chat with Andy and I hope you enjoy listening. He is a great guy so make sure you follow him on his socials listed below. 11/06/2019 Duração: 02minOriginally posted June 11, 2019. As a fan myself of interview/storytelling type podcasts myself, this episodes guest is near the top of favorites for me. I hope you enjoy my interview with former Canadian Olympic speed skater and current host of a CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) podcast called 'Players Own Voice. During our time together we talk about her beginnings in Speed Skating, of course realizing who she is while growing up. We talk about the importance of athletes coming out, not only to help their own well being but also to help others. An example of this is her story meeting the gay Canadian former Olympic Swimmer and champion Mark Tewksbury. Story can be found here is you want to give it a listen:
