When Jonah was called to preach to the city of Ninevah, he blatantly told God he didn’t want to and RAN. When we run from the calling of God we learn from Jonah that at least four things can happen. God will chase you down, people will find out you are called, you will have to repent, and by the grace of God HE will sustain you.

Praising God proves our trust

Paul writes Timothy and desires for him to raise the standard in his aspirations, his integrity and his reputation. If we are going to make a positive impact we must be aware of how we live and the purpose we pursue.

Jesus is not transactional but Experiential.

Reconciliation doesn't lead us to a perfect heart, but to God's perfect love.

Paul writes to the most generous church in the region towards his ministry to encourage them in their ultimate dependence on God. He encourages them through the word to have an abundance mentality. As we depend on God for his presence and financial provision, we must likewise overcome confusion with joy, worry with peace, and fear with love.

Everything must be done in moderation.

Doing what is right for the family even though it does not feel good to you.

Do you own your things or do they own you?

Salvation is free, discipleship will cost you everything.

When Jesus resurrected from the dead he set in motion a new plan and a new identity for us as forgiven in Christ. Our transformation was guaranteed, impossibilities became possible, and our dreams come to life.

When we live in humility Jesus gets the credit.

The church must be a multicultural, multiethnic expression of a redeemed humanity.

When Jesus enters his final days on the earth before his crucifixion he prays in the garden. He gives us the secret of becoming a church that is powerful. We must follow his example and pray bold prayers, have bold character, and show bold unity if we are to fulfill his mission for us.

Jesus calls us to unexpected places with unmatched purpose.

Moses and the people are given the ten commandments for God’s glory. The keeping of these laws are to serve the people in their understanding and behavior in their relationship with God and each other. The commandments are to be lived out in worship, love, honor and relationships.
