  • A Remnant According To Election (Rom 9) - Paul M. Williams

    15/08/2016 Duração: 01h12min

Romans 9 Paul’s great heaviness and continual sorrow of heart was for his own kinsmen according to the flesh.  Such was his great love for his nation that he wished himself were accursed from Christ for his people Israel.  Nationally, they had not come into the salvation of Messiah with only a remnant being saved.  Paul in seeking to reconcile this fact with the faithfulness and justice of a covenant keeping God, demonstrates from history that God has always chosen to call by election showing mercy to whom He will, calling for Himself not only a remnant from Israel but a people also from among the Gentiles!! Admittedly, this ninth chapter of Romans is a very difficult passage of Scripture over which many have argued and debated.  In seeking to be faithful to the text of Scripture, we endeavour to exegete the passage faithfully!!

  • No Weapon Formed Against You Shall Prosper!! (Rom 8:24-39) - Paul M. Williams

    07/08/2016 Duração: 01h06min

Romans 8:24-39 Jesus told His disciples plainly,"...In this world ye shall have tribulation: but be of god cheer; I have overcome the world (Jn. 16:33). The Apostle Paul in echoing the same sentiments, spoke too of a necessary suffering with Christ that we might receive our inheritance as beloved children in an age yet to come. The great hope of our glorification with Christ at His appearing ought to be a great source of encouragement to us as believers, not least when enduring under trial and hardship. In these final verses of Romans chapter 8, Paul is relentless in his argumentation, mounting one case after another; all designed to lift the believer’s eyes heavenward. The gist of his reasoning is this: We are the children of God, foreknown of God before the foundations of the world, predestined, called, justified with the sure hope of being glorified. If this be so then what weapon formed against the child of God can prosper? If God be for us, who can be against us? Be of good courage!!

  • Children of God (Rom 8:15-23) - Paul M. Williams

    01/08/2016 Duração: 01h02min

Romans 8:15-23 Paul continues in this chapter to set forth the redemptive purposes of God in Christ Jesus for mankind.  Turning away from looking at the believers experience in the here and now, Paul now looks ahead to the future wherein shall be revealed the full redemptive purposes of God in the glories which await us at the coming of Christ.  When asked how this can be?  The answer lies in our adoption as sons and daughters of God!  As such we have been grafted into the family of God and have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba, Father!!  As such we have now become heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together!  This sermon seeks to lift believers’ eyes above this world to see the wonderful inheritance that has been laid up for us in the ages to come when the Saints shall inherit the earth in a Kingdom that is yet to come wherein creation itself awaits the manifestation of the sons of God at which time it too shall be deliv

  • Life In The Spirit (Rom 8:1-14) – Paul M. Williams

    24/07/2016 Duração: 01h10min

Romans 8:1-14 Romans chapters 6-8, when taken as a whole, form one of the most powerful portions of Scripture in the whole Bible as it relates to regeneration.  Chapter 6 sets forth the power of sin broken…chapter 7, the strength of sin through the law…and chapter 8, freedom sin through the Spirit.  Many it seems like to live in the realm of theological head knowledge and fancies but where is the practical application that grasps the precious truths contained in these chapters and brings beauty of godliness down to earth!!  Though many read Romans 6 and 8 as though written across the pages are the words “do not touch”; every page cries forth “try me”!!  In the chapter before us we turn to look at the power through which men find victory over sin, namely the blessed indwelling Holy Spirit!!

  • Life Under The Law (Rom 7) - Paul M. Williams

    18/07/2016 Duração: 58min

Romans 7 One of the most abused and misunderstood chapters in the whole of New Testament is the chapter before us in this sermon, namely Romans chapter 7.  I say abused, because for many this chapter offers a supporting crutch for them to continue to live in habitual sin; for after all they’ll say, if Paul struggled with sin doing those things he desired not to do and not doing those things he desired to do – then who are we!!  I say also misunderstood, because so often in the exegesis and application of Holy Scripture, we must first establish beyond all shadow of doubt what a passage/verse cannot be saying!!  Romans 7 is sandwiched between two chapters either side (6 & 8) which refuse to allow for the position of defeat in the area of sin in the life of the believer.  This sermon seeks to debunk the myth of Romans 7 offering a seeming safety net to excuse sin and brings out the true understanding of the chapter so that a proper application can be made to our lives.

  • An Exhortation To Holiness (Rom 6) - Paul M. Williams

    10/07/2016 Duração: 01h12min

Romans 6 In the mind of many Christians, the only difference between themselves and that of sinners is that they are “forgiven”.  Grace is viewed as an insurance policy in which we can sin now and claim forgiveness later.  Admittedly, whilst many would not be so brazen as to put it in those exact words; the sad reality is that in experience, this proves to be the policy under which many who name the name of Christ live!  Paul begins the sixth chapter of Romans with a question; “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound”?  He spends the rest of the chapter showing categorically that this cannot be the case.  For Paul, the cross of Jesus Christ was more than a place where sins are forgiven but was the place of his own funeral and subsequent resurrection from the dead.  The implications of the mystery that Paul presents in this sixth chapter are so profound and the ramifications so powerful, that if heeded, and acted upon, one’s Christian worldview and experience will never be the same again! This sermon i

  • Jesus Christ Vs Adam (Rom. 5:12-21) – Paul M. Williams

    04/07/2016 Duração: 01h08min

Romans 5:12-21 One has only need to open his eyes to see that there is a fundamental problem with the world we live in.  Though it shines with the beauty of a rising sun and glistens with the splendour of a snow capped mountain; though one cannot escape the beauty of the vast array of wildlife, as beautiful as all this is, that beauty is overshadowed by the presence of a lurking enemy, poised to take it all away.  That enemy has a name and its name is death! Many today deny the doctrine of original sin.  To them the Garden of Eden is just a myth.  However, Paul takes the reader right back to the Garden and in so doing lays down the truth of what took place; “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Rom. 5:12).  In Adam, through the offence of one, all died, yet in one man Jesus Christ, through His obedience, the free gift of everlasting life has now come to all who would receive.

  • Reconciled To God (Rom 5:1-11) - Paul M. Williams

    27/06/2016 Duração: 59min

Romans 5:1-11 Paul has already dealt with two great doctrines in the preceding two chapters of this great epistle to the Romans, the doctrine of justification by faith and the doctrine of redemption.  Now Paul comes to another great doctrine and pillar of the Christian faith, namely the doctrine of reconciliation which results from the other two.  Can it be, that we who were formerly at enmity with God have been brought into a state of friendship?  This is the great clarion call of the Gospel; be ye reconciled to God!! This sermon lays out this wonderful truth and encourages believes who are enduring trials of affliction to lift up their heads heavenward and to fix their hope on the eternal prize laid up for them in Christ!!

  • Imputed Righteousness (Rom 4) - Paul M. Williams

    19/06/2016 Duração: 01h01min

Romans 4 For 1500 years, Israel had been under the heavy yoke of the law.  This had been their rule of life since the time of their coming out of Egypt when God entered into covenant with them at Mt. Sinai.  Paul was clear of one thing (himself being a Pharisee for many years), by the works of the law shall no man be justified in the sight of God!  If any man was going to stand a chance of gaining right-standing with God, it was to be by faith alone that the reward might be of grace! In this fourth chapter of Romans, Paul seeks to address this seismic shift in religious worldview by pointing out that such a concept of imputed righteousness on the grounds of faith is nothing new!  Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation predated Moses by some nearly 1500 years, yet Abraham had this testimony before God, that he was counted righteous on the grounds of his faith and not by the works of law.  Paul lays hold on this truth and expounds this great doctrine of justification by faith by demonstrating that righteousne

  • Being Brought Into Right Standing With God (Rom 3:19-13) - Paul M. Williams

    13/06/2016 Duração: 01h02min

Romans 3:19-31 Words such as expiation, propitiation and atonement are words that have generally lost their meaning in today’s society; yet, these words are key to understanding the great transaction that took place on the cross!!  Theological concepts such as 'substitutionary atonement' has become repulsive to a Church that generally has no stomach for justice and righteousness.  God is holy and as such He must punish the guilty.  How can a holy God remain just and at the same time punish the guilty?  In this sermon, the glorious truth of justification by faith through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ on account of God’s grace toward us is brought out for all to see.  Our being brought into right standing with God came at a great price.  May we ever rejoice in this truth!!

  • Let God Be True And Every Man A Liar (Rom 3:1-18) - Paul M. Williams

    05/06/2016 Duração: 50min

Romans 3:1-18 When one surveys the Old Testament, the Law and the Prophets, one cannot escape the sheer volume of passages and verses that speak of a future blessing for Israel.  They cry forth from every page...God has not cast off His covenanted people Israel!!  In answer to the scathing indictment against him in chapter 2, the Jew sought to exploit this truth in an attempt to hold God to account by insisting that whatever wrong they did on their part, God would remain integral to His Word in keeping covenant with them.  In this fifth teaching part we see how Paul blasts this faulty reasoning out of the water bringing the Jews back to the fundamental truth of his argument, namely that both Jew and Gentile are fully deserving of the righteous judgment of God!!

  • Religious Pride and Hypocrisy (Rom 2:17-29) - Paul M. Williams

    30/05/2016 Duração: 58min

Romans 2:17-29 Having mounted a case against the self-righteous man and having concluded that both Jew and Gentile stand condemned before a holy God, Paul now turns his attention in particular to the religious Jew who rested in the law though he kept it not!   The Jew made his boast in his creed and pedigree, in the receiving of the law, in the external rite of circumcision.  Paul would have none of it and seeks to pull the rug of religious pride from under his feet and to lay bare his hypocrisy.  Say not we have Abraham to our father, say not we are they to whom the law came, say not we have the seal of God upon us through circumcision; does your life match up with the reality of what these things contain?  This sermon is a challenging message for search to be made as to the genuineness of our confession of religion that our lives might match our profession of faith!

  • Walking With Jesus - Paul Sherbird

    26/05/2016 Duração: 51min

2 Corinthians 13:5 Paul delivers a very simple but yet profound message on the need for us as Christians to remain in a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  What does it mean to walk with Jesus?  How do we as Christians walk with Jesus?  Paul endeavours with the help of God to provide many thought provoking answers to these questions and more.  May the Lord bless you as you listen/watch this rich sermon. This sermon was preached at the 2016 Wolverhampton CMFI Fellowship Day.

  • Being In The Place Where We Can Hear God - Jim Cottington

    26/05/2016 Duração: 01h08min

2 Chronicles 18 Jim brings a very needful word about the absolute need to put ourselves in the place where we can hear from God.  This is a very heart stirring message that places the responsibility firmly in our lap.  What is the state and condition of our hearts?  Are we in the place where we can hear from God? This sermon was preached at the 2016 Wolverhampton CMFI Fellowship Day.

  • Self-Righteousness And God’s Impartial Judgment (Rom 2:1-16) – Paul M. Williams

    22/05/2016 Duração: 56min

Romans 2:1-16 Jesus reserved some of His most chiding words for the religious hypocrites.  Content to dwell in their self-righteousness, to sit in the seat of judgment against others yet failing to see that by that same judgment they themselves were condemned!!  Against such, Paul lays down the case and when he’s finished getting done, the righteousness of the self-righteousness is reduced to dust and ashes!!  To the Jew seeking to justify himself in the sight of God, he has been weighed and found wanting!  To the Gentile he too has been tried by the law written on his heart and has been found wanting.  Paul concludes all men under sin and announces the coming day of wrath when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ!! This sermon is a very powerful exhortation to cast aside self-righteousness and to cast oneself upon the righteousness provided in Jesus Christ!!

  • The Gospel of Christ And Man's Depravity (Rom 1:13-32) - Paul M. Williams

    15/05/2016 Duração: 01h11min

Romans 1:13-32 The Apostle Paul's heart was that he might come to preach the gospel to those at Rome.  Whilst many today desire to draw in a crowd, Paul was not interested in doctoring the gospel to accomplish such means.  Whilst many today are ashamed of the foolishness of preaching, Paul desired to preach nothing less for he knew that the unadulterated gospel of Jesus Christ was the power of God unto salvation to all who would believe. Just as the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, so also is the terrifying wrath of God revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.  When a people decides to cast off the knowledge of God and to give the worship and glory owing to God, to another, God gives man over to his own wicked lustful heart and in removing His restraint, man begins a horrifying downward spiral into moral depravity.  This sermon is awake up call to a nation under the wrath of God!!

  • The Possibilities of Grace and Prayer (Rom 1:1-12) - Paul M. Williams

    09/05/2016 Duração: 01h02min

Romans 1:1-12 Though the book of Romans was not the first epistle to be written, yet it finds itself first among the New Testament epistles.  When we consider the great depth of its theological content and practical application, it’s hardly any surprise why we find it first in position among the epistles.  By all accounts, this epistle stands as a giant!  If all the epistles can be rightly called mountains, the book of Romans stands as Mount Everest among them.  In this first part of a sermon series working through the book of Romans, we explore Paul’s mighty calling and the awesome possibilities of the grace of God working though his yielded life.  We look too at the power of prayer and the desperate need in our generation for prayer to be revived in the lives of God’s people for the spiritual well-being and prosperity of the Saints.

  • Too Long in Talk With The Devil - Paul M. Williams

    01/05/2016 Duração: 01h06min

Genesis 3:1-7 There seems to be within some sectors of the Christian Church, two opposing views when it comes to spiritual warfare.  On one extreme there exists those who deny that there is such a devil at work in the earth today and on the other, those who blame the devil for absolutely everything!  Surely the Bible presents a middle ground, not overstating his power whilst at the same time not minimising his potential influence in the life of the believer.  Through the account given of the fall of man, this message seeks to shed light on the nature of Satan and his approach in seeking to ensnare the souls of men.  This sermon is a sober warning and a caution to Christians not to spend too long in talk with the devil for one does so to the peril of his own soul!!

  • The Peril of Anxiety - Paul M. Williams

    10/04/2016 Duração: 56min

Luke 8:7 Never in the history of mankind have we ever been able to achieve more in in a single 24 hour day than we do in the age in which we live.  What previous generations would have taken a week to accomplish, we can accomplish in mere hours.  Yet, though man has much time free, he has no time free, for the time he would have free he fills with the pursuit of obtaining more.  With the more come much anxiety!! Anxiety is a foe of any man but in particular it is a foe of the Christian which if embraced will render one’s life unfruitful and barren!  This sermon looks at the parable of the sower and in particular the application of the parable as it relates the peril of anxiety.  A strong exhortation is given via a very practical message that we as Christians might break through in the area of faith and prayer to lay hold on the peace of God in the midst of the temptation to worry.

  • Whom God Loves He Chastens - Paul M. Williams

    27/03/2016 Duração: 01h03min

Hebrews 12:1-13 Is there any among you that is without the pain and sorrow that accompany trials and afflictions?  What is your response when such trials and afflictions come to press you out of measure?  For many, their immediate response is why me?  If God loves me, why would He allow such affliction to come into my life?  Oh!  Dear Brethren, don’t tarry long in conversation with that old serpent; well our Lord did say of him “he is a liar, and the father of it” (Jn. 8:44).  Nay, in such moments of doubt, we must bring underneath that sinking sand, the sure foundation of God’s Word which cries aloud; it’s because God loves me why he allows trials and afflictions to come into my life!! In this sermon, three key aspects of God’s chastening are brought out.  Firstly, God chastens His children in retributive disciple in order that they might turn back to Him.  Secondly, God chastens His children in corrective discipline that they might resemble more His image and character.  Thirdly, God chastens His children i
