Modern Mouse Radio-an Unofficial Disney Podcast

This week's news show as loaded with tons of Disney news including all of the Star Wars hype which has even made it into Pop Tarts, the cancellation of the Osbourned Family Lights at Hollywood Studios and the Aladdin musical at California Adventure. Since the beginning of the new Millenium, superhero films have made a return. We seen successful runs for X-Men and Batman, but nothing has been greater than Disney and Marvel's Cinematic Universe. All of them have been cash cows for Disney and as we are set to jump into Phase 3 of the MCU, the franchise is met with a new villain, the DC Comic Universe and the over saturation of superheroes in media. We discuss this week if too many superhero films will ruin the Marvel franchise and the superhero genre as a whole. We also talk about the effect it will have on comic sales and merchandise. Smaller news brought new dining options this week including breakfast aboard the Jungle Cruise and inside the Sci-Fi restaurant, but the biggest story of the week has to be Star Wars. Force Friday kicked off the Fall and Christmas season that will most definitely revolve around Star Wars. We go in depth talking about the possibilities for Star Wars under the Disney umbrella and what we may see in the future leading up to the new film The Force Awakens as well as what we may see in the coming years from Disney's version of Star Wars.

After the D23 Expo, we were compelled to bring on some of the people we met there. One of those people, Jeff Barnes, just published his book titled "The Wisdom of Walt" which is all about leading your life like Walt Disney did his. What's interesting to us, however, is that Jeff himself has spent many of his recent years also leading his life the way that Walt did. A Sikh man has been in the news because his religion doesn't conform to Disney Cast Member dress code. He has been working backstage at Walt Disney World, staying away from the guests, because Disney doesn't want their guests to see a cast member out of costume. Angie and Josh discuss Cast Member dress code and if some of the Disney rules are outdated. Is there room to change these rules to fit a modern world? Angie and Josh have a slow news week as everything is leading up to the D23 Expo but a few little surpises got into the show including a new app for Disneyland that is the beginning of My Magic Plus being introduced into Walt's original park. Nobody likes to see their favorite ride go, so instead these great thinkers at the Disney parks are revamping them so that no park becomes stale.
