This week on the Gardening Programme Paraic Horkan discussed a selection of good plants to sow in borders, he gave advice on how to treat lawns that are impoverished and not growing well. Listeners also head how to treat soil with wireworm and how to deal wth caterpillars on Gooseberries.

On this week's Gardening Programme Paraic gave advice on sowing herbs, suggested nice options for border colour for May & June, advised on growing and care of Wedding Cake Trees, gave tips on how to treat frost damaged Hydrangeas and advised on best practice on sowing oak trees from seedlings.

On this week's Gardening Programme Paraic looked at current tasks in the garden for the bank holiday weekend, he gave tips on sewing herbs, discussed Super Nemos as a treatment for pests and vegetables and gave advice on how to deal with bindweed. The programme also featured a slot of growing French and Runner Beans and there was a competition for tickets to Bloom.

This week Paraic gave steps on how to plant a new lawn from scratch for beginner gardeners and also advised on shrub selections for first timers. Other topics included the propagation of Daphne Mezereum, the application of Linuron on potatoes and carrotts, advice on planting baskets and window boxes, growing tomatoes in grow bags and good options for planting around an archway.

This week Pauric gives advice on care of lilacs and geraniums and looks at the planting and care of Birch Trees. We hear how to go about planting a wildflower meadow, trees that are suitable for wet areas and also good choices for windy areas. Paraic also advises on the planting of tomatoes, chillies and peppers and discusses how to combat weeds like Mare's Tail and brambles.

On this week's programme with Pauric gave advice for maintaining broadleaved trees including maple, birch and mountain ash. He discussed alternative vegetables for planting in raised beds, looked at planting in exposed sites, advised on shothole fungus on laurels, planting plum and apple trees and suitable plants for shady areas.

On this week's programme Padraic discussed care of Daffodils & Tulips once the season has passed, he gave advice on preparing the ground and planting a new lawn. Listeners questions were answered including treatment of greenfly on house plants, sowing Sunflowers with children and how to plant a rose bed.
