Information On Cruising The Great Loop

Captains Chris & Alyse Caldwell will join us once again to discuss cruising from Panama City, FL to Tampa, FL.

Peter Teuten of Marina Life will tell us how to manage and take wise risks.

Our Guest Hosts this week are  Captain Tom Shipp who will represent the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, and, Michael Ahart, On-line Editor of Waterway Guide.  We will be discussing the pilot program to explore options for regulating the anchoring/mooring of non-live aboard vessels outside the marked boundary of public mooring fields. 

Clara Landry of Port St. Joe Marina will join us to talk about the Florida Panhandle area and their upcoming Looper get-togther.

Guest Mary Beth Amalia will discuss what it is like for a woman cruising the Great Loop.

Dr. Jerry Reves is the guest to discuss ways to stay healthy while cruising.

This coming Friday, November 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM EDT, we will feature Capt. Sterling Kennedy and his lovely mate who will talk about Florida's 400 mile mini-Loop. As you begin to plan your winter cruising, we thought this would be a timely topic.

Al Golden will be our Guest Host to discuss Marine Insurance.

This week we will once again welcome Captains Chris and Alyse Caldwell as Guest Hosts. During this visit they will discuss Building Cruising Confidence as a Couple. This is a crucial part of any couples education as they prepare to embark on the Great Loop journey, or any cruise together, even if it is just a day cruise.  

Gold Loopers Jeff Parker and Hal Baker, along with Bob Doak, President of the Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Brian Smith, Public Relations Coordinator for Chattanooga Dept. of Parks & Recreation, will be our guests. They will be discussing the recent problems experienced by Loopers while docked in Chattanooga, Tenn., and what the city is planning on doing to address the problem.

Our guest on this week's show is Jim Stewart of Winter Harbor marina who will talk about how to winterize your boat and how to prepare it for re-launching in the spring.

Our guest this week will be a representative of the NYS Canal Corporation. He will be discussing the status of the Erie, Oswego and Champlain Canals in the wake of flooding caused by Irene and Lee. We will also have an AGLCA member guest hosting. This should be a very lively and informative show! There is some question as to whether or not the Erie Canal will be in any condition to reopen next season.

Capt. Bob Kunath will join us once again, this time to discuss Cruising Lake Michigan. This is the time of year when many Loopers are beginning this part of their journey, so this will be a very helpful show for all of them, as well as anyone eventually planning to do the Loop. Don't forget, we also have our ongoing Question of the Week contest!
