Along with success on the business side, he has a heart for giving back to others and is Executive Director of WaterSchool, a charity focused on clean water projects in Uganda. 2020 is Richard’s 20th year as a cancer survivor. When my kids were small, one of the favorite bedtime books in our house was Eric Carle’s “The Very Busy Spider.” If you’re not familiar with this book, it’s one that teaches children about focusing on work that matters. For years Derek Stone had dreams of becoming a musician. This road didn’t lead him to success, however, it led him to Nashville, TN. Struggling to live as a starving artist with a family to feed, it was then he thought “there’s got to be a better way.” He went through an early life crisis, changing careers with the help of mentors, and watching YouTube.
