Morning Manna

How do you start your day? I start my day with quoting powerful verses from the Bible. This is one of my favorites - Psalm 143:8 "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life." This morning as I prepared for my day, I thought of this verse. I thought of the words and the importance of putting our trust in God each and every day. The very first words that come from our mouths as we open our eyes should be these.

1 John 2:6 says; Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. Over and over in scripture we're admonished to be like Jesus. While I know that Jesusly is not an actual word, in today's episode I'll share how I first heard it and challenge us with something Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount.

One of the verses that I memorized years ago, has served me well in difficult times. Joshua 1:9 says; "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” That's not a request or a suggestion... it's a command from our Commander.

The Definition of duality is the quality or state of having two different or opposite parts or elements. We can feel different ways at the same time. In today's episode I share the experience of David. I hope that in will encourage you in the challenging times in which we're living today. You can praise and fear at the same time.

It's been my tradition since the beginning of Morning Manna in November 2007, to share the Christmas story from Luke chapter 2. Have a Merry Christmas today and may you and your family be blessed with Peace on earth.

We can hardly go through a Christmas season without a reminder that Jesus was born in less than ideal circumstances. What irony! No room was available here for the Savior who came to prepare a place for us in heaven. Make room in your heart for Him today... even in the midst of our less than ideal circumstances.

In today's episode I want to share with you the powerful story of the virgin birth of Christ... the incarnation of God. Luke 2:19 says; "But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart." I want to lead you to day in your own pondering of God's great gift of love and grace.

The verse is Ephesians 4:29 - "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." Have you ever heard the phrase, "Easy preaching, hard living"? Oh my... there are definitely things that God calls and commands us to do that can be challenging. As a pastor I was convicted a number of times while preaching powerful truths that I myself was at times, not living them out. I'm going to share one of those truths on today's Morning Manna.

Some are really challenged in these days to find a way out... a way in... a way to hope and victory. Throughout scripture we see God opening miraculous ways to bring people out and through difficult situations. Be encouraged today that He is your Waymaker.

One of the things I enjoy about the Christmas season, are the displays of light. On of our family traditions was to go through the drive thru of McDonalds and get some hot chocolate and then drive around to see all the light displays in our city. John 8:12 says; “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” What an amazing light Jesus is in the darkness of our world. Shine His light today!
