Jesus was chosen to speak as our high priest. But people have become dull of hearing are cannot understand what He said.

Jesus learned the value of obedience in what He suffered. His obedience made Him perfect. It also opened the door for us to be saved.

Jesus prayed and prayed urgently while in the flesh. He wanted to be delivered from death but in the end His reverence or surrender to God made Him our Redeemer.

Jesus took what God the Father called Him and changed the world. God called Him a Son and Priest. God calls us sons and priests.

Because mankind has fallen in temptation a High Priest must offer a sacrifice. That is what Jesus did for the sins of the world.

A High Priest is a man who is appointed to minister to people the things of God. He administers the offerings and gifts. He also knows what temptation is like.

We can come near to the throne of God with a heart of confidence because Jesus, God's Son, is our High Priest.

Jesus has walked in our shoes. He knows what it is like to be tempted. He was completely victorious over the temptation

Because Jesus is our High Priest we need to hang on to our confession. That confession is that Jesus is our Lord and High Priest

God sees us not in a way to punish us but to make us more like Jesus. There is rest in that fact.

God's Word is our place of rest. His Word changes us. It is alive and active. As we rest in faith His word works on us.

The rest is His rest, His place. We enter it and rest from our works. We need to use effort to stay in that place of rest and not to get to that place.

Our place of rest is not physical. It is a Sabbath place where we rest from our struggles to be pleasing to God.

Faith is a decision. We need to decide to believe and then we enter the rest given to us.

We rest in God's Word. God finished His work and is resting in it. We need to rest in what God spoke into existence.

Two things are needed to enter the rest. The Gospel must be preach and then we must put it together with faith.

We need to be distressed about not resting in what God has promised. We need to enter a place where we stop working and rest in what God said.

Verse 16 through 18 are filled with questions. The reason for the questions is to help us understand that refusing to believe is the reason we don't live in the promises of God.

Every believer shares the fact that we are in Christ. It is good to remember that first time when we surrendered our lives to Jesus.

When we see a heart that is becoming hard because of trials we need go and encourage that person. Our encouragement will keep them from falling away.
