It’s the same test the Lord often gives to us to see if we really have been changed by the Gospel. It’s the test of love: Do we love one another as we love ourselves. I’ve often heard it said that the primary mark of guilt is the fear of judgment. In today’s story in Genesis 42, it is the fear of judgment that awakens the guilt of Joseph’s brothers for the crime they committed against him some 20 years earlier.
