Special Guest:  Charles J. Devlin, Former CEO of Daytop Village, Inc.  We continue to explore the path of DAYTOP as an industry leader, from the perspective of Charles (Charlie)Devlin, affiliated with DAYTOP over 40 years, the first Graduate of DAYTOP, and his journey to ultimately becoming the CEO, and serving during a time when the organization probably served its greatest number of clients.

Special Guest:  Dr. David Deitch, Co-Founder of Daytop Village, Professor Emeritus, University of California at San Diego, Department of Psychiatry, discusses the birth and infancy period of Daytop Village, and the evolution of the Therapeutic Community (TC) as an approach for treating substance use disorders. In addition to the above, Dr. Deitch has written extensively on the subject of addiction and treatment, and is the founding Director of the Center for Criminality & Addiction, Research, Training, & Application (CCARTA). Dr. Deitch has over 45 years experience in the development of drug abuse treatment systems for adolescents and adults, nationally, and internationally. This is part 1 of a 3 part series.

The Monsignor William B. O'Brien is the Co-Founder of Daytop Village, Inc., a substance abuse treatment program that started in New York on Staten Island in 1963. The Monsignor passed away October 19, 2014 at the age of 90 leaving behind a legacy of thousands who have gone through not only DAYTOP programs, but many other programs started by DAYTOP alumni, and many other programs modeled after the DAYTOP model, the Therapeutic Community. Many have climbed up out of their addictions to lead positive, constructive and successful lives.  The Therapeutic Community. Self-help. Peers helping Peers.  We dedicate this special inaugural show of the OCG Radio show Roache on Recovery to the Monsignor and to all that he has meant to thousands of those in recovery.
