Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project

It's been a busy week for Adam and the gang. Last Friday, we were down in LA for the Star Trek fan event, which Adam hosted, and then flew back to the bay area for this year's Maker Faire. We recap both events and talk about some of our favorite moments from the weekend.

This week, Adam shares how he overcame a recent funk he was in after a bad day at the shop. We discuss the universal feeling of self doubt and impostor syndrome, and how we each move past it. Plus, an appreciation for the movies Pleasantville and The Truman Show!

We kick off this summer movie season by reviewing Captain America: Civil War! As with all Spoilercasts, we start by discussing the movie without giving anything away, and then dive deep into what we thought about specific scenes and characters. Adam also talks about some recent show finales he's enjoyed, and why he loves dramatic comedies.

We catch up with Adam to learn about his recent travels, from guest judging in the new season of BattleBots to visiting inspiring maker spaces in the midwest. Adam also shares the story of the first test drive of Blendo, Jamie's infamous BattleBot!

This week, we chat about the wonderful world of Gundam and snapfit injection-molded plastic kits. That leads to a discussion about some of our favorite model kits from our childhood, and an appreciate for cockpit design. Plus, an appreciation for the recent achievements of SpaceX!

This week, we talk about Adam's upcoming trip to the White House Science Fair, our own first science fair projects, and the trouble with troubleshooting connected devices in the home. (Apologies for any jackhammering noise that got through in the podcast--construction was happening next door!)

A double dose of SPOILERCAST this week as the team discusses two movies that won big at this year's Academy Awards. We review and compare Spotlight and The Big Short, praising the performances in each and analyzing how the films portray historical events. Plus, a new book recommendation!

We're in the cave this week to talk about the recent airing of the MythBusters series finale. Adam goes in-depth about the planning and filming of the last episode, the incredible footage captured from the explosions, and how he and the MythBusters team watched the finale together. Plus, we hear about Adam's appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert!

The latest book we're gushing over is Liu Cixin's The Three Body Problem, a science-fiction story with ideas that blew our minds. Adam, Norm, and Will review the book and discuss its concepts in a Spoilercast! Adam also talks about his current obsession with Hamilton: The Musical, and we hear Norm's best segue yet.

We're joined by a special guest this week: Dan Perkins (aka Tom Tomorrow), who writes and draws the long-running comic strip This Modern World. Dan joins us in the cave to discuss his work and storytelling, as Adam recounts his past week of adventures at the 2016 TED conference in Vancouver!

We were due for a Spoilercast, so this week, the gang talks at length about Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, as well as watching films at San Francisco's new Alamo Drafthouse theater. Adam also shares his newest favorite toy!

Sorry for the late episode this week! We meet up in the Cave to talk about Neil DeGrasse Tyson's slams against Flat Earth believers, cognitive bias, and the implication of mic drops. Also, we announce the next book we'll be discussing in two weeks time!
