This is a big one for us, guys. A couple of weeks ago, Hulu presented us with the chance to talk to Ann Dowd (Aunt Lydia) about The Handmaid's Tale. We jumped at the chance. We've known Ann's work with complex characters since she played Patti Levin on The Leftovers, so getting a chance to talk to her was a dream come true. This episode fits the interview inside the usual podcast review we've been making since the show started. If you really need to jump ahead, look around the six-minute mark for Ann's interview. We talk with her about Lydia's motivations and what makes her tick. As usual, definitely watch episode 308 "Unfit" before listening! Everyone is busy trying to sort out the crazy happenings in Hawkins. All of our teams can't figure that they're all on the same side and they're in trouble. Joyce and Hopper are off to a bad start. The Duffer Brothers may be my favorite creators in Hollywood right now. If the Stranger Things Season 3 Premiere is any indicator, then we are in for a darker, deeper dive into Stranger Things mythos. Just in these first two episodes, we catch up with all of the old gang and where they are in their lives, plus a look at this season's monster. This one felt like a season one flashback in some ways. The handmaids return to their roles in public "partici-cutions", something we haven't see them do since the "Janine Rebellion". Definitely reminds us that our characters still very much live "under his eye" as the title reminds us. Last week, Serena, seemed to decide on a path forward. This week, she and June seemed to form an alliance. But that's not all June was up to - she still has some sway over Fred. This podcast covers the final episode released for the season 3 opener - a pretty good episode called "Useful". Our favorite new scarf model and apex of amorality, Commander Lawrence, has a lot to say about the concept of "usefulness" and teases at June all episode long about it. Early on, viewers received little info to try and suss out Lawrence's true intentions. This episode didn't exactly spill the beans on that topic, but we got to have a much closer look at the man than ever before. Randall and Beth, the strong couple that called themselves R&B, look like they may need to call a time out. The little Big 3 go to their first dance and show as that while Kevin can get anything he wants with a smile, Randall has trouble prioritizing his commitments. The pattern continues into adulthood, with Kevin reconnecting with Sophie during a rough patch with Zoe and Randall pushing things too far with Beth. Meanwhile, Kate and Toby (Toby, mostly) learn how to parent their preemie. Ten Episodes Isn't Enough! The final two episodes (Mrs. Maisel 209-210) of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel feature Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) at both her greatest level of professional success... and a harsh realization about what it's going to take to go even further. A couple episodes ago, Declan Howell (Rufus Sewell) presented a grim picture of a driven artist, giving Midge a moment's pause. The finale makes things more concrete for her, as her mentor, Lenny Bruce (Luke Kirby), decries the consequences of fame and croons about how Alone he feels because of it. And then, there's Joel... Let's not forget Abe. Can we expect to see Abe as some kind of hippie/intellectual next season? The structure of the episode allowed the last seven weeks' events to unfold by just showing us the high points, all leading up to a very tense scene which both opens and closes the episode. We're excited to start something new for our podcasts: Entire Streaming Season Reviews! To kick things off, on the recommendation  of Pop Culture Review, we've reviewed the series everyone's been talking about this winter: You Season 1.  You began it's life as a novel and transitioned to the Lifetime network for a 10 episode run. Although the season ends with a pretty good hook leading into season 2, things weren't going to work out for the show at its original home. That's where Netflix came in! It's too soon to say when we'll say season 2, but it's safe to say Netflix won't sit on what's become a sleeper hit. And remember: You're not supposed to like Joe!
