This Sunday, 27 August 2017 was our Annual Special Missions Service where we take up an offering to give to our South American missions efforts helping to support 4 different churches in 17 cities. Our sermon was led by Keith Davis entitled Who Am I? Keith preached on the identity of a disciple of Jesus in regards to the heart and passion for God's mission. This Sunday, 11 September 2016, Keith Davis led our sermon entitled The Value of a Soul. On the 15th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the loss of so many lives in the tragic attack in America. But many lives were saved because of the selfless actions of others. God obviously values souls, He sent his son Jesus to die for even a few. Today's lesson will focus on each of us remembering not only what Jesus has done for us but that we too are called to value the souls around us. This Sunday, 4 September 2016, Gary Simmons of the Central Valley Church of Christ preached to us during our minister swap Sunday. Gary's sermon is entitled A Walk With God where he simply encouraged us to not to forget to walk with God and not get caught up in the things that can pull us away from God such as the responsibilities of life, life's issues, even church stuff and especially getting stuck in the trap of being distracted by what the words mean in the bible more so than allowing the bible to lead us to the real priority of having a relationship with God, walking WITH God and becoming like Jesus. Gary insists that there is a place for getting to the root of the scriptures and studying out the bible to it's intricate details about words and meanings, but it pales in comparison to the depths and intimacy of the relationship God so desperately pursues us for.
