The song this week is entitled "Seasons" and came about atfer a conversation I had with a chap a while ago....he had emigrated to Australia and decided he had made a mistake....he was originally from Wirral and I mentioned hot weather and "barbies" to which he replied he was fed up with the heat etc...I casually mentioned the fact that I enjoy the seasons and he said that was it...that is what he misses most....this was the inspiration behind the song which ended up on one of my DVDs of the area. Theresa May had a cough during her speech at the Tory Conference...which has become BIG NEWS....it was a COUGH that's all...we all get them...the BBC news coverage was pathetic...as always...I thought she did really well...but the stupid BBC have to make a major issue of it with unfunny comedy clips.GROW UP!!!!....I am an admthe pressure while others keep in the background and share the glory but not the disasters....and I'm getting a bit sick of politicians thinking they are showbiz personalities with their modern

The song this week is The Colour Of Time and is one I co-wrote with a good friend of mine called Patricia Knapton...it features a painter who sees rainbows where there is no rain and everyone in his painting is smiling with no hatred etc....proving the world is a better place through a six year old's eyes instead of the goons who run things at the moment. We have been bombarded with documentaries on Lady Di....telling us nothing we don't know....I think we have all had enough now.....so much so I wrote to the "Have Your Say" section of a TV magazine....and got 10 quid for my letter !!!...so I'm not alone in my opinion........and adding to the mountain of flowers I realise that until people get a life and stop acting like sheep there is little hope for humanity. The song this week is called Song of Anglesey which I composed for my pal Paul Damian and is a track off the album Portrait of Wales......it is available from my website. As I said I was in Anglesey over the weekend and visited a village on the north of the Island called Moelfre...it is a small picturesque fishing village with a lifeboat station....close by is a huge bronze statue of a famous lifeboat man called Dick Evans....his bravery earned him the lifeboat equivalent of the Victoria Cross....and he was once featured on This Is Your Life with Eamonn Andrews.....back in the 90s I had a good friend who would show me around the Island and he took me to meet a pal of his...."The is Dick Evans" he said....I had no idea who this delightful chap was until he showed me the book he received from the TV programme....sadly he died shortly after but you can imagine my amazement years later when I first saw the statue...I nearly fell over backwards....I bought a book of his adventures which was like reading a James B

Talking of which....Jeremy Kyle has been drafted in to co-present the ITV morning show....so now we have Kate Garraway and Mr. Kyle interviewing guests all talking at the same time.......and now...wait for it....it is ILLEGAL to stream films without paying for them....you can get up to 4 YEARS in jail........have you ever heard such nonsense ....perhaps if there was anything

The song this week is one of the several I wrote for Penny Page and her singing duck Googi....after the success of "Googi The Liverpool Duck" I came up with quite a few ideas for her...this being one of them....this was the demo I did originally "I'd Like To Be A Cowboy".....I changed to title to "cowGIRL" for the record she made....as Googi is a girl.......... The outcry over the publishing of the BBC salaries has slowly come to a halt...with of course no follow up....the BBC obviously don't see anything wrong with paying Chris Evans over two million pounds for his "talent"...the fact that this is the equivalent of 80 nurses salaries would seem to be O.K.....and of course the women are moaning because they don't get the same as the blokes...when Tess Daley pulls in 350 grand a year for doing nothing...and not doing it very well...I think it's time to give us all a refund on our licence fee.....we are told there is no money for firemen and police men yet a brave newsreader can get a small fortune.There was

The song this week is one I wrote for a dear friend of mine who is sadly no longer with us...his name was John Lomax and was part of a skiffle group called The Atlantics in the 50's....he played the first electric guitar I heard live....I met John many years later and we became good friends....I recorded this song with him as a tribute...The Story of Skiffle"....as it was skiffle that kicked it all off back then....John played this to Chas McDevitt when he went to one of his shows....Chas suggested he send it to the skiffle convention in Finland (2001) which he did...this resulted in us being invited over and we forming a skiffle group and off we went...great times...I miss John very much. The song I've sent you this week is called "Long Live The Isle of Man"and came about from a song I was asked to write about #Blackpool.....I sent it to Norman Wisdom who lived over there ....I met him a few years later when we interviewed him for Radio Merseyside....the song got plays on #Manx radio. I watched #Rafa Nadal's 5 hour epic at Wimbledon....which he sadly lost.....I watched a fascinating programme presented by Sue Barker where she looked up some of the past Wimbledon champions and covered the time Billy Jean King pushed for "equality"... The London fire is still dominating the news... this material should never have passed safety regulations in the first place...if residents are moved out of existing blocks while they do the work fists are waved and blame cast....as usual the problems are magnified by the negative media... Apparently there was a big march in London regarding the gradual "takeover" of Islam which was not reported on the news......totally confused....apparently there is no money for doctors and nurses....no money for extra police...the interest on my savings is a joke and yet money can be pulled out of the air for the Queen's pay rise of over 2 million?

The song this week is about Chester City which you will know well....I've sent it because I have been taking advantage of the recent weather which has been very hot so I took my kayak out on the River Dee at Chester this week and it was like a millpond....I paddled along joined by baby ducks,swans and the local heron....wonderful....it really is fascinating place which I never tire of....I recorded another version of the song with a girl called Julie Bright (a local Chester girl) put it on a 45 single and sold it to the Chester Council. The song this week is called "On The River" which is where I spent Tuesday afternoon in my Laser Dinghy....I like to get out on the River Dee at West Kirby with just me,the breeze,and the seals....paradise......we are very lucky to have this sailing facility here on Wirral...and if the tide is out we can use the large Marine Lake. We have had a bit of freak weather...30 degrees no less....which we are NOT ready for........and a spot where you can park the whole nation of sheep congregate resulting in everyone crammed on to 100 yards of shore.... Heathrow and Gatwick had computer problems......leaving thousands stranded and missing flights....and it has been mentioned that 30% of people travel without insurance so it's bye bye to their holiday and their cash.. .The song I have sent you this week is called "Seen and Done It All" and it was commissioned by a publisher I was signed to in the 70's called #Evolution Records....I wrote it specially for #DianaDors who actually recorded it......they also had #Mud and #GeorgieFame on their books and The #BonzoDog Doo Dah Band who I also wrote a song for which they recorded called "Strangle My Boss"... Still on the music scene they are all coming out of the woodwork....re-unions everywhere...#Steps...#Bananarama.......the word "band" grates on me a bit when they call them girl "bands" and boy "bands".... There is a new game show called "Big Heads" hosted by Jason Manford ...it involves contestants wearing big rubber spitting image heads of celebrities and they have to compete against each other running over obstacles and falling over etc.. connected with the character it would make more sense....a bit bland. I watched #BritainsGotTalent and tried to cancel the judges out of my mind...there was a really good comedian on.

"I made It to the top" .. refers to the top of Mount #Snowdon.... album I produced for my pal #PaulDamian who pronounces the Welsh names accurately.. There was a 10 minute article on the news regarding "mumbling" in TV dramas....which I've been going on about for years...we discussed the #BBC big shot the other week coming out with gems like "It creates the atmosphere when actors lower their voices"...do these "stars" learn to act? There was an interesting article on the news about a couple of scientists who have discovered material which changes sea water into fresh water when poured through it..... On the entertainment front I watched #BritainsGotTalent .......I haven't watched it for years and thought it MUST have improved....WRONG.. I have been watching "Line of Duty" which is excellent.....the script is so cleverly written....also #Broadchurch" is another good drama which keeps you in suspense...thank goodness for #Netflix.
