Ramble With Russel Podcast

Here is the largest podcast I have ever done and my last one of 2006.  For your enjoyment my Christmas/Holiday Extravaganza bursting full of seasonal cheer and kids singing.  This week features a interview with a friend of mine, James Mahon as we discuss having a holday in the magical Kingdom of Disney, then it is off to the world of video games with Chris Houle from Iceman Video Games as we discuss thePlaystation 3 and Wii launches and the world of action figures.  Also includes is talk on holiday specials, including a very Sci-Fi one, seasons greetings from listeners and fellow podcasters and more jingle bells than you can shake a stick at.  As a holiday bonous you will get to hear a visit from a certain man in red and a special edition of the audio drama The Scarifyers called the Yule Lads. This week it is gangs and secret agents take the stage.  First up is my audio book review of White Sister by Stephen J. Cannell, another Shane Scully murder mystery thriller and then it is off to the cinema with another big screen review with Rob.  This time around we went to see Casino Royale the new James Bond film starring Daniel Craig.  Not only do we discuss around opinion on 007's newest outing, Rob also goes over the life of author, Ian Fleming, who created the secret spy.  Music on today's show is Uniforms motion picture score by Devin Anderson and Doctor 007 by our good friend Martin Johnson.  As always your comments and suggestions are welcome.

This week we scour the wastelands of humanity and never ending expanses of the human mind and invention.  First up is my unabridged audio book review of Armageddon's Children by Terry Brooks, as the Word and Void battle it out over the fate of the world torn apart by war.  My special guest for this week is Martin Johnson, composer of from the recent production of the stage play Evil of the Daleks that took place in England back in October.  We talk about what it is like to write music for such a production and the challenges that went into making music for a stage version of a lost Doctor Who episode.   Also listen to the end of the podcast for a very special announcement concerning our friends at the Lipstick Aliens Podcast.  As usual your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Well here it is folks, my silver anniversary edition of my podcast.  This week I take the show on the road and cover the D.W.I.N. (Doctor Who Information Network) Who Bash 2006 that took place on Nov. 18th at Rowers Pub in Toronto, Ontario Canada.   In one of my largest episodes ever I talk with 4 people at the mini convention as we discuss Dcotor Who, Science Fiction and even the movie Resident Evil : Apocalypse which was actually filmed in Toronto.  Fans of Doctor Who : Podshock will also be able to hear another first as I meet someone in person who also contributes to that podcast.  A word of thanks goes out to nice guy called Mitch who helped me navigate the subway system of Toronto.  So sit back, pull up your TARDIS, jelly babies and long flowing scarf to enjoy the very first On the Road edition of my podcast.  As always your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Hi folks, after a little bit of time off  I am back with my pre-Halloween Special this week.  My book review is the audio book Isolation Ward by Joshua Spanogle, a medical murder mystery thriller and his debut novel.  My special guest this week is fellow podcaster and all around good guy, Paul Wilson of The Whocast, who took some time out of his sick bed to chat with me.  We discuss the quickly approaching All Hallow's Eve, his newly re-vamped website and a very special offer for all my listeners on a new thrilling audio adventure series called The Scarifyers that has started up.  As always your comments and suggestions are welcome.

After a week break, I am back with another fresh podcast for your consideration.  Inspired by my recent appearance on another podcast called GeekWeek,  I thought I would do a Sci-Fi Special.  First up is my review of the new PS2 game Lego Star Wars 2 : The Original Trilogy that was just released.  My book review with continue the theme with my take on Betrayal by Aaron Allston, the first in the Legacy of the Force novels.  In the feature section for this week I go over the history of the classic science fiction charcter Flash Gordon along with my review of the recently released animated DVD set of the character from the 70's.  As always your comments and suggestions are welcome.

This week the ladies of power and influence are the focus of my podcast this week.  My audio book review is 2nd Chance by James Patterson with Andrew Gross involving police detective Lindsay Boxer and the Women's Murder Club and my guest is Tanya Gould from my workplace.  Tanya and I talk about her recent move to country life, the world of NASCAR racing and dating tips.  In addition to that I discuss the DVD release of The Best of She-Ra : Princess of Power 2 disc set and the phenomenon which is He-Man and She-Ra.  As usual your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

This week is my skin and bones episode of my podcast.  Now, not that it is not full of rambling goodness, far from it.  My audio book review is of Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs, the latest Temperence Brennan mystery.  My guest interview is with Jesse Kalosza who runs the Lucky Devil Tattoo Art Studio in Lindsay, Ontario.  We discuss the art of drawing on skin and how popular it has become and some of his more interesting client requests.  The music for this podcast is by Universal Hall Pass and is called Dragonfly and a link can be found on the website for thier page on Garageband.com and was chosen for what some people get inked on thier bodies.  As always your comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Well after a little bit of a forced hiatus we are back with a double dose of reviews. First up is my take on the audio book Mary, Mary by James Patterson and then joining me for a another book review and discussion is Anka Peters from Germany. This time around we have an in-depth discussion about the novel Perfume, The Story of Muderer by Patrick Suskind which is soon to be made into a major major picture. This week I have not one but 2 audio book reviews to listen to with my opinions on Rage and Gone by Jonathan Kellerman, 2 novels from his Alex Delaware murder mysteries.  The featured guest is Ray Marshall, former Theatre Manager of the Academy Theatre of the Preforming Arts in Lindsay, Ontario.  We sat down and discussed the live theatre business, ghosts and some of the more interesting things he has seen in his over 20 years in the business.  As usual your comments and suggestions are appreciated. This week we head off to the movies again, with a side detour into the land of the dead.  On the show is a book review of A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore, a novel of grave consequences and we go to the movies, but this time it is a behind the scenes look. This time around I sit down with the Bill and Sheila from the Century Movie Theatre in Lindsay, who keep the place going.  We discuss the challenges of running a small theatre and where movies are going in this digital age we live in.  In keeping with the summer movie theme I included my long awaited Top 10 Gross moments in movies list.  As always your comments and suggestions are welcome.
