Mike and Cam discuss a number of recent labeling issues and blunders, including a couple of product recalls in the U.S. and abroad. Gluten free labeling seems to be improving overall, but there is still work to be done. Thanks to Gluten free Watchdog (@GFWathchdog) for bringing these issues to the forefront. Also, Cam's dog, Lacy, makes an interesting discovery during her gluten detection training.

Mike and Cam ponder the results of a new Columbia University study that shows that people with celiac disease who are hypervigilent about their gluten free diet actually have a lower quality of life. While we are not surprised about these findings, we talk about how it relates to our own lives and work on solutions that can help all celiacs have a better quality of life overall. We also want to thank Beyond Celiac for publishing an article about the study, which we reference in the podcast.

Mike and Cam are so excited to be joined once again by Dr. Maureen Leonard (previously on EP 43)*.  Dr. Leonard is involved in the groundbreaking CDGEMM study at Mass General and talks about the amazing progress of the study, as well as some other fascinating research that she has been involved in. Among the topics discussed is the fact that TTG might not be as accurate as we thought for followup care of celiac disease. You don't want to miss this informative episode! *Dr. Leonard is the Clinical Director of the Center For Celiac Research and Treatment at MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC) and an Instructor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School (HMS).
