  • Father's Day on Brett Singer Radio

    17/06/2011 Duração: 31min

Sunday is Father's Day. Today I'm going to talk about how to show your kids to stand up for themselves without letting them think that it's OK to yell at people. I tend to be a pain in the ass when it comes to customer service people, not because I like arguing, because I can't stand getting jerked around. Speaking of being jerked around, I'll share with you my personal collection of Anthony Weiner jokes (bandwagon, anyone?), and also tell you why I hate politics. Getting back to Father's Day, our friend Christine Coppa interviewed Adrian Grenier from Entourage about his new movie A Shot In The Dark, which is about him looking for his dad. Hits home for her, and me too. Also: what is the right age to let your kids watch videos on YouTube? After that, who knows? I like talking. Call in, jump in the chat room, just don't tweet me a picture of your junk. I'm not interested.

  • Interview with Wisconsin Parent Involved In Protests

    14/03/2011 Duração: 31min

Governor Walker's actions in Wisconsin have ignited a protest movement that no one could have predicted. Police estimate that over 100,000 people attended a rally at the Wisconsin State Capitol building on Saturday March 12. Today we will speak to a parent who became involved in the protests because many of the state employees that the Governor is attacking are teachers. If you want to know what's really happening in Wisconsin, tune in Monday at 3:30pm EST (2:30pm Wisconsin time).

  • Lots Of Things To Discuss Today

    15/12/2010 Duração: 36min

I've got a lot on my mind and I need to get it out. OUT! So I'm talking to you. Hoping that a couple of folks will call in so I'm chattering into the wind but if that's what happens, that's OK because, like I said -- lots to discuss.

  • Erica Jong And Attachment Parenting

    19/11/2010 Duração: 46min

Today we're talking Erica Jong and attachment parenting with Madeline Holler from Babble.com. Ms. Jong had some opinions about this particular mode of parental involvement, and I have some opinions about her opinions. My guest is Madeline Holler, who wrote about Jong's article for Babble.com. Tune in!

  • Government Cheese, The Tea Party, Schwarzenegger

    12/11/2010 Duração: 32min

Did you know that the US Government helped Domino's figure out how to get more cheese into their pizzas, while at the same time telling people to eat less fatty foods -- like, oh, I don't know... CHEESE?!? Big story in the New York Times, and we're talking about it. Also: why the Tea Party isn't really a party, why Arnold Schwarzenegger probably wasn't such a bad governor despite what people say, and anything else we have time for. Call in!

  • Interview: Nathan Rabin of The AV Club

    29/10/2010 Duração: 30min

My guest today is Nathan Rabin of The AV Club, author of the new book My Year of Flops, which Patton Oswalt called " Truly brilliant...like watching a genius nurse a score of frightened, wounded baby birds back to life--a superhuman level of care and compassion lavished on That Which Never Had A Right To Exist." We'll discuss the book, the nature of criticism, and why on Earth anyone ever thought making the movie 'Delgo' was a good idea.

  • Everybody Wants To Be Cool

    06/08/2010 Duração: 31min

Everybody wants to be cool. When did this start? James Dean? Earlier? Were there cavemen who tried to impress cavewomen with their designer woolly mammoth jackets? Today I'll talk about how everyone wants to be cool, including WikiLeaker Julian Assange and alleged blood diamond accepter Naomi Campbell, who testified at the Hague this week. Campbell succeeded in barring the media from taping her testimony, so I'll read some of her words, and imagine what else she might have said. (By that I mean I'll make stuff up in a funny accent.) Also: Brands are not people, despite what marketing nitwits say. And much more! Tune in.

  • Real Life Superheroes - No, Really

    16/07/2010 Duração: 31min

There are real life superheroes among us. No. Really. There are. They have an acronym - RLSH. They have web sites. I'm fascinated by these people, and you will be too. Also: Many stories have been told this week about George Steinbrenner, but one that I haven't seen mentioned is the saga of Steve Swindal, the moron who divorced the beautiful and beguiling Jennifer Steinbrenner, daughter of George. We'll remember Steve on the show today. Also on the docket: another stupid poll proves absolutely nothing, and some of my favorite comments found online. PLUS: the infamous Mel Gibson tapes are fake, and we have proof! Listen and be amazed.

  • Brett Singer Live

    09/07/2010 Duração: 31min

On the agenda this week: John McCain rapping, LeBron James decision, and those dopey Russian spies - so much going on in the world, both real and imaginary, there's always plenty to talk about. Tune in.

  • MIA Sarah Palin and Journalism

    11/06/2010 Duração: 45min

This week I'm joined by Jeanne Sager. We're going to talk about journalism - Joe McGuinness, the guy who moved in next to Sarah Palin and is writing a book about the former Alaska governor, and M.I.A., who got so mad about an article about her in the New York Times magazine that she tweeted writer Lynn Hirschberg's phone number. The Times then admitted that some of the quotes may have been taken out of context, and it turns out that the infamous truffle fries were ordered by Lynn Hirschberg and NOT by M.I.A. That's right people -- truffle fries. It's come to this. Also: Helen Thomas hates the Jews, but doesn't everybody? And more! Tune in.

  • Brett Singer Live

    04/06/2010 Duração: 30min

Let's see if we can get through a show without mentioning Star Trek. Probably not. Maybe I'll do an over/under on how many minutes until somebody starts talking Trek. Not sure if I would take that bet, frankly. Gary Coleman, Rod Blagojevich, James Cameron and Kevin Costner - none of them will be my guests, but I'll talk about them all. Remember the episode of Diff'rent Strokes where Arnold wanted to have a Bar Mitzvah, but Milton Berle told him how tough it was to be a Jew? No? I do. Tune in tomorrow to see what the hell I'm talking about.

  • Brett Singer Live

This week we welcome back Jeanne Sager from CafeMom's The Stir to talk about Shannon Morell, a woman who had someone else's embryos implanted in her by mistake and went through with the pregnancy anyway. Other topics include: Exploring Newt Gingrich's name, our new segment "Everybody Hates The Jews", and is it OK to make fun of the baby who smokes 4 packs a day? And maybe this whole "don't ask don't tell" thing. Seems like people care about that. Give us a call or join us in the chat room.

  • Why Farm Shares Are Annoying (and great)

    27/01/2010 Duração: 45min

Today's topic is food. And also, the Apple Tablet launch, because really, what else is happening in the world? On the agenda: farm shares, aka CSAs, which I recently discovered. The food is great, but some of the people... We'll also talk about getting your kids to eat better, and eating better yourself. We'll also discuss the crisis in Haiti and what it has to do with breast-feeding (really) if time permits. At 1pm, we will follow the launch of the mythical Apple Tablet LIVE, as it happens. Odds are we will mock it. But that doesn't mean we don't want one. Madeline Holler (Babble.com) is scheduled to call in. Tune in!

Tune in because we're back!

  • Half Price Abortions - Offensive or No Big Deal?

    26/08/2009 Duração: 30min

A post I wrote on Strollerderby about a Chinese ad offering abortions at a 50% discount to those with a student ID got a strong reaction, but not the one I expected. This week on Morning News Live, Jeanne and I will discuss the ad and related issues. Plus our weekly segment "What Are Crazy People Saying About Barack Obama?" and your calls. Tune in!

    19/08/2009 Duração: 30min

Today on Morning News Live, Jeanne Sager and I discuss the controversy over the Alameda, CA school district program to promote tolerance in the classroom. Some feel that this is just a way to "indoctrinate children into the gay lifestyle." What do you think? Call in and let us know. Also: why Brett Favre is really coming back to the NFL (hint: it's about the Jews), and our weekly segment "What Are Crazy People Saying About Barack Obama?" Tune in!
