This is the time of year when many people read the account of Jesus' birth from the Bible. It can almost seem like an annual ritual because that is what "good" Christians do. One thing seems to be certain no matter why this passage is read--many skip over Mary as just one of the characters in the story. However, if you study it deeper, you find that Mary was much more than just one of the characters. Listen in as Pastor Matt shares how Mary is a great example of being faithful and available for God to use for His purposes.

Life is full of giants. You are either about to battle one, or you are currently battling one, or you just defeated one. This is something that cannot be avoided. It's what's called "life". However, Satan tries to place fear in the hearts of people to make them run from the battle they are called to fight, BUT in every giant that we are about to battle, God equips His people with the proper armor and weapon to conquer the giant. Daniel was one of the most influential prohets in the Old Testament. He prophesied during the Israelite exile to Babylon. There are many things that can be learned regarding his dedication to serving God. However, to get the best understanding of scripture is to learn how to study the Bible. God is always on the move working to accomplish His will. The great thing about God's will is that He desires to use you to play instrumental part in His will to reach people for Him! Many times when God says, "Go!", there is something inside of us that holds us back. It can be doubt, fear, denial, etc. However, God does not usually lay out His entire plan for us. Just like in the life of Abraham, He only gives us the promise and then the next step on how to get there. Listen in as Pastor Matt teaches us what it means to "Go!"

When we speak of marriage, we typically are speaking of a husband and wife relationship. However, in our busy lives, when our priorities are not in place, it is so easy to become married to our jobs, hobbies, extra-curricular activities, etc. Listen in as Pastor Shin Sung Kang discusses the most important marriage of all--our marriage to Christ and its importance to be 100% passionate for Him.

Self sufficiency, in today's culture, is a sign of having it "all together". We like to show those around us that we can handle our life and we don't need help from anyone else. However, that can't be further from the truth. When we are completely reliant on ourselves, we lose our intimacy with God because we stop going to Him daily. Rat poison is 99.995% food and only .005% poison. However, just that little tiny percentage is enough to take care of the rat. So often when we take a look at our lives, we look at sin as.."Just a little won't hurt". We think that it won't have much of an effect on our overall well-being. On the contrary, that is furthest from the truth. Even a little sin has a great impact on our life! As we conclude our sermon series in James, we are drawn back to all of the major subjects of the letter. One over arching theme seems to be sticking out in all of them. One of the hardest disciplines to learn is patience. Patience does not mean tolerate, but enduring. We all have things that are favorites for us--favorite foods, favorite TV shows, favorite songs, favorite athletes, etc. As we begin the second chapter of James, we quickly learn that when it comes to people, if we want to have a faith that works, we are not to show favoritism.
