Tonight's Netcast starts out with me being all giddy that the Hey Scripting Guy blog published something of mine. I'm printing it out and hanging it up on the fridge. Then I talk about the awesome time I had in Stockholm and Helsinki last week. Search was a problem for one of my customers last week and I tell you all why. I also point out a handy map with all the ports and protocols used between servers in a SharePoint farm. Then I end the Netcast with a PowerShell tip for using Where-Object, some Internet Patches you should install, and how to get Facebook to work correctly on Surface RT.

Another supersized Netcast. I spread the good news that I'll be presenting at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference in March of 2014. I talk about the PowerShell Summit, which I will sadly not be able to attend. I bring more bad news when I cover the supportability of SharePoint 2013 on Windows 2012 R2. Then we cover those pesky DCOM errors and how to quickly, easily put your SharePoint site in maintenance mode. I've had a couple of run-ins with SQL Server in the past week, so I cover those gotchas. I finish up the netcast lusty over the new Surface devices that Microsoft recently announced.

This week we talk about whether it's Rad or Bad to use Kerberos in Central Admin. Then I discuss how a reader has helped me in my quest to upgrade my blog. Microsoft recently released a security patch for SharePoint and we cover why. Next I talk about a great SQL and SharePoint white paper that I stumbled onto. It includes some great suggestions on how to speed SharePoint. Then we talk a little about Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1 and how groovy they both are.

Tonight's episode is two in a row with good audio. Yay me! We talk about some techniques I recently used to track down a pesky email issue. Then we move on to more exciting news about SharePoint patches and we found out which one was recently rereleased. On the heels of that I talk about my blog post that explains when you should or shouldn't install a SharePoint patch. Then I cover some new functionality in the Where-Object PowerShell cmdlet that might save a SharePoint farm or two. Want a cheap Windows Phone? I tell you how to get one. Then I spend some time talking about Windows 8.1 and the new Surface devices that are coming out.

Tonight we cover Steve Ballmer's abrupt departure from Microsoft and what that means for me. I cover a couple of fixes in the August 2013 CU for SharePoint 2010. Then I cover a way to rename your Search service databases, should you find yourself needing to do that. I helped one of my friends troubleshoot a SharePoint issue and I walk through that process in this netcast. Finally I get all excited that Windows 8.1 is finished and I can't wait to install it on everything, including my toaster and my couch. Oh, and the audio is much better this time.

The audio is scratchy this week. Sorry. :( I think I've got it fixed for next week. I know, my voice is grating enough without the technical problems. Once again, this week's Netcast spends a lot of time discussing patching. That's because there's a lot of great patching news to discuss. The August CUs for SharePoint 2010 and 2013 have been released for our amusement. I talk about them for a bit. SharePoint 2010 with SP2 built in has snuck out to MSDN and we discuss what that means for new installs. Sadly, SP2 is not all roses and kittens and we have to chat about that a bit too. Then I cover a few non SharePoint things like how to disable the Metro IE in Windows 8 and 8.1, when Windows 8.1 and 2012 R2 will RTM, and another fun way to watch my Netcast with a Chromecast. It's casttastic!

Tonight's episode is live from SPTechCon and recorded in front of a live audience. I also begrudgingly let Shane on camera. We chatted about a very generous gift one viewer gave me. Then we cover some of the specifics when upgrading from SharePoint 2007, yes 2007, to SharePoint 2013. We also discuss some new information that came out about Shredded Storage.

The big news in this Netcast is the unveiling of the much anticipated Service Pack 2 for SharePoint. We discuss the good and the bad with it. There's always a little touch of bad in new patches. We talk about a patch that fixes a .NET patch that broke SharePoint 2010 earlier. Now we can have our .NET patch and our SharePoint too. Stuck on patches I talk about a script you can run that will speed up patching SharePoint 2013. Then we talk about some other great links I've stumbled across in the last week.

Tonight's Netcast has better audio, thank goodness. That means you can actually hear me when I discuss exciting topics like troubleshooting Incoming E-Mail and how Windows patches continue to kill poor defenseless SharePoint 2010 servers. I also cover how you can leverage your PowerShell expertise to recover items from the Recycle Bin. No mouse needed!

Tonight's show has a bunch of non SharePoint content it, and it's all good. I start off talking about some changes I'm making to the video download for this Netcast. Unless there's a public outcry I'm going to switch both video feeds to mp3 files. Next I talk about a blog post I read about using the Office Web Apps with files in a file share. Then I talk about scaling out SharePoint 2013 Search. Then I spend some time talking about how much I love my Surface RT and how now anyone can get one for the low, low price of $350. I spend the rest of the Netcast talking about SharePoint and Windows patches that are hell-bent on destorying your precious, defenseless SharePoint farm.

Tonight's episode is filmed from the comfort of my hotel room on a Microsoft Surface Pro. And it actually worked! I discuss some techniques you can use to install SharePoint 2013 without an Internet connection. Then I talk about ways to tweak your Search Service app topology with PowerShell. Yammer is apperently a big deal, so I cover how you can integrate that with your on-premises SharePoint 2013 farm. You know, if you hate your users and want to punish them. Finally I show you how to get a bunch of free ebooks, after you've bought mine, of course.

Tonight's Netcast is a doozy. It's been two weeks since the last Netcast and a lot has happened since then. I talk about how great TechEd EMEA was and I discuss some of the new software previews that Microsoft released last week. I show how I made my Surface RT even sexier, if that was possible. Then I talk about a topic that comes up frequently, SharePoint patches and the destruction they leave in their wake. I also talk about a mysterious 404 error that SharePoint apps can produce.

In tonight's episode I explain some of the technical issues I had last week, and my solution to them that's just crazy enough to work. Then I cover the latest gifts that Microsoft has given us, the June 2013 CUs for SharePoint 2010 and part of SharePoint 2013. I also talk about some changes I'm making to my builds lists. Then I dig into some other SharePoint topics like changing the SharePoint 2013 branding with a SharePoint 2013 app (they said it couldn't be done), I rehash a story I covered last week about hosting, then I finish up by talking about how to consume the User Profile Service from an InfoPath form, two great tastes that taste great together.

It tonight's episode I spend a lot of time talking about all the fun I had at TechEd North America in New Orleans and now excited I am to have a Surface RT. I spend some more time trying to convince everyone that it doesn't suck. Then I talk about how a mean old patent troll is trying to take about my god-given right to podcast. Finally I talk a little about SharePoint.

Tonight's Netcast is jam-packing with chewy good SharePoint information. I cover some recent regressions in SharePoint 2010 patches. I talk about a recent buttkicking I received from PowerShell. (Thank you sir may I have another?) I also cover the workflow of deciding how to create a workflow. Then I should how to use PowerShell to check for Windows patches. I wrap it all up with a story on how you can get the SkyDrive Pro client without sacrificing your firstborn or buying Office 2013.

In tonight's episode we talk about the new SharePoint Server 2013 language packs. We talk about how to install to them and what some of the pitfalls are. Then we cover how to add words to SharePoint's spell-checking dictionary. We also talk about patching and some things you can do make it less painful. Later I point you in the direction of some more free SharePoint training at Microsoft.com.

In tonight's Netcast we talk about some security issues I had with SharePoint last week and how to successfully update the Workflow Manager. Then we dive into a couple of lively discussions. First we cover whether you should install the 32 bit or 64 bit version of Office 2013. After we lay that discussion to rest then we discuss the pros and cons of using SharePoint groups or Active Directory groups when assigning permissions in SharePoint. Then I promote the bejeezus out of my new book.

In tonight's Netcast, which almost didn't happen, we talk a bunch about the April 2013 CU for SharePoint 2013 and all the headaches that go along with it. We then talk about an article by Mary Jo Foley where she discusses what Microsoft's release schedule for SharePoint 2013 might be in the coming months and years. Then I talk about how to make Workflow Manager highly available and I try to lay to rest the mystery of the Fill Factor. We stuffed a lot of good SharePoint content into this Netcast, you don't want to miss it.

Tonight's episode was supposed to be short, but as frequently happens, I start talking and I just can't stop. I spend a bunch of time talking about the Distributed Cache in SharePoint 2013 and some things you can do if it goes rogue on you. I give a shout out to the AutoSPInstaller crew for a shout out they got from soemeone way more important than me. Then I pimp one of my own blog posts about SharePoint 2013 prerequisites. By law I have to pimp my own blog, look it up. Then I link up some Microsoft resources on SharePoint 2013 databases and some free SharePoint 2013 training. One of my listeners sent in a story about a battle he waged against a Language Pack and I tell the sordid tale here. Finally I talk about a regression in the SharePoint 2010 February 2013 CU that breaks the RSS Viewer web page. It was a busy night.

After taking a week off I have a lot of things to talk about in tonight's Netcast. I spend a lot of time talking about the new patches for both SharePoint 2010 and 2013. Then I cover some new guidance from Microsoft around SharePoint 2013 sizing and topologies, including this week's answer to "are stretched farms supported?" I finish up with a PowerShell competition you should all enter.
