It's early Spring in Boulder, Colorado where we welcome The Lil Smokies from Montana and Emily Scott Robinson from Telluride to eTown Hall. The Lil Smokies have graduated from 'up and coming' to 'fully arrived' - they showcase their hyper-melodic brand of song-strong Bluegrass music. Emily Scott Robinson shares the stage with her sultry voice and plays a 'spooky' tune with Nick, Helen and The eTones. Also, Christina Carlson, from Urban Peak in Denver, talks to Nick about youth and homelessness. Back home to eTown Hall in Boulder this week to host The Secret Sisters, a duo from Alabama sporting amazing sibling harmonies while singing murder ballads and pop songs. And from Rhode Island comes Jake Blount showcasing an eclectic mix of traditional Folk and Americana wrapped in a contemporary skin. Nick also sits down to discuss the finer points of how the Civil Rights Act applies to environmental law with KC Becker, the Administrator for the EPA's Region 8. The wayback machine lands us back in 2017 to revisit a show featuring John Moreland and Phoebe Hunt. Nick joins John onstage for an acoustic tour de force of Oklahoma folk-flavored original tunes and Phoebe is joined by the eTones as she lends her silky-voiced twang to the Americana lexicon. We also hear from Susan Burton, a formerly incarcerated drug addict turned activist who has used her life experience to help and reform others with similar struggles. This week eTown continues our ‘look back’ at stellar shows from our archives, with a rebroadcast from 2016 featuring legendary guitarist, composer and long-time friend of the show Bill Frisell. Bill shares music from his collection of recordings inspired by television and film. Also joining us is independent folk artist Sam Amidon, who grew up in a musical household and began performing at an early age. Lots of great music and conversation on the show this week, plus an inspiring eChievement Award story. Be sure to tune in!

As we continue our ‘look back' through our archive of great shows, we offer an incredible full rebroadcast from 2016, when hosts Nick and Helen Forster welcomed the eclectic sounds of Arizona-based music veterans Calexico to eTown’s solar-powered stage. Drawing from the vast landscapes of the desert territories surrounding them, the band has been fusing their influences of various Latin musical styles, country, jazz and rock to create a sound that has been all their own for decades.  Also joining us in this repeat program is underground Texas music legend Ray Wylie Hubbard who shares some great music and hilarious stories, plus a warning about visiting snake farms (tune in to find out more about that). Also, our eChievement Award story is one of Helen Forster’s favorites! We showcase a young California college design student who found a great way to both provide comfort and warmth as well as employment for the homeless. It’s an eTown classic this week!
