MEJMI is quickly becoming one of our favourite up & coming techno acts in Ireland. MEJMI’s stripped back approach to prismatic techno production has been turning heads within the last six months. A strict approach to textured rhythms that calls on sci-fi inspirations makes a unqiue sound that is both charming and refreshing. Aside from becoming one of Ireland’s stand-out up & coming techno producers, MEJMI has also been busy rocking dancefloors across Cork & Poland. Dublin label @tenonerecords unite co-founders Air Jackson and ACI TONA for a collaborative EP entitled ‘When We Were Younger’. The label offers a platform for the deeper, melodic sounds of house, techno and breakbeat, which this release touches on nicely. Both Air Jackson and ACI TONA have been honing their craft over the years, building up a style and sound that only experience can lend itself to. This first release from the duo is a flawless amalgamation of their melodic yet tough styles, laced with nostalgia and good vibes born from their 25 years of immersion in the club and rave scene. Today we premiere ‘Acid Love’ an uplifting and nostalgic acid infused house track that pays homage to the days of acid house and rave, with tastefully chopped vocal samples and euphoric ravey build ups with a modern day twist. Our first premiere of the week comes from Theiz (Mathijs Schippers) who showcases his debut 16-track album on EPMmusic. We premiere ‘Infinite Compassion’, a deep trip through astral atmospheres and submerged acid lines. After three well-received EPs on EPM, Theiz returns to the label with his debut album. Leitrim-based DJ and producer Fearghal Feely makes use of the alias Havik for his journey that delves into raw, stripped-back yet driving, and sometimes trippy techno. Having established his solo alias two years ago he has since been dedicated to working on establishing his sound by means of consistent work in the studio for hours on end. Havik'a unreleased began to gain support from numerous artists such as Marron, Truncate, Kaiser, Alarico, Marcal, and more in recent times which signified a step in the right direction. The up and coming producer has been feverishly honing his craft under the watchful eye of Dublin Don, Pusher in Camden Academy. This week’s entry to the Local Selection Mix Series welcomes esteemed Subject resident Niall Cleary. The massively talented and ever-consistent DJ has put forward a sensational mix featuring 57 tracks with a host of Irish and international talent throughout. Niall has been a key cog in the Dublin techno machine since the early 2000s when nights like Electric City and venues such as Redbox and the old Tivoli Theatre were in their prime. A student of the fast, loop-driven techno from the late 90s, and early 2000s eras, his sets are high energy, full of fast transitions and expert blends.
