Our first premiere of the week comes from Bangor born, and now Auckland based, DJ Koncept. The New Zealand based producer has supplied a blissful liquid drum and bass symphony, touching off golden age jungle memories and knitting them with future concepts. Originally from Bangor Co Down, and now based in Auckland NZ, DJ Koncept has been a DJ for around 20 years. He Started off his musical journey with hip hop, and then moved onto producing Drum & Bass, and more recently Breakbeat Hardcore. Koncept veers towards music that is more mellow and melodious, and he’s partial to head-nodding breakbeats and pounding bass. Artists like as A Sides and Kool Keith have appeared on DJ Koncept’s releases, and Koncept has won many competitive DJ battle’s as turntablist. Koncept has clearly not shy’d away from releasing and competing and has has garnered several accolades over the years. Our second premiere of the day comes from techno stalwart Max Gardner. The American producer inaugurates his and Cory Simpson’s Peer record label with a five-track EP. We premiere the the track ‘For Realness’, a deep and driving techno anthem. Max Gardner has devoted himself to techno for over a decade. Max is now a regular fixture in Bay Area techno, performing all-hardware live sets at clubs and warehouse parties, organising his own events, and making his own hammerhead machine music. Max Gardner’s sets are inspired by the strong, synth-forward sounds of Detroit and Berlin classics as well as new-school players from the Netherlands, Latin America, and the United States Midwest, and run the gamut of techno in its purest forms. He specialises in driving rhythms and sophisticated, long-form mixing, creating hypnotic blends that give whipped-up dancers just the perfect amount of nuance. After a stellar week for premieres, we wrap up for this week with an amazing, high octane techno track, from hardware enthusiast Stefan Goldmann. Goldmann’s music has been released on labels like Perlon, Innervisions, and others since 2001. In further years, Goldmann has created a tight relationship with Berlin’s Berghain and Panorama Bar club, for which he publishes a column, is a co-author of its book, and is the creator of the Elektroakustischer Salon event series. Goldmann’s label, Macro was founded by in 2007 and has released some legendary records from equally incredible artists. Its releases range from techno tracks to symphonic recordings. It has also been home to releases from artists such as KiNK, Maria Chavez, Peter Kruder, Pete Namlook, Raudive, Santiago Salazar and remixes by Pépé Bradock, Ricardo Villalobos and The Knife’s Oni Ayhun. Today we premiere a track from one of Ireland’s fastest rising producers, RAAB. The Dubliner’s track ‘Autumn Dream’ comes from his third release on his RAAB Trax imprint. Warm gliding synths meet a beautiful piano for an uplifting six minute techno crescendo. RAAB hailing from Dublin, Ireland is known for his ferocious DJ skills as Rob Whittle. The Local Selection Mix returns with jarring mix of techno, breaks, electro & ghetto house from DDR resident, Katie Tynan. The up and coming selector has provided a bold and bouncy selection of up-tempo cuts, an abundance of playful samples and efficacious beats make for a thrilling ride. Katie takes great influence from ghetto house legends such as DJ Deeon and DJ Godfather, the young selector finds joy in blending these with homegrown influences and old school flavours such as rave classics and hard house. Tynan’s mixing etiquette can be described as raw and rapid. Katie thrives in quick mixing and mixing off the fly, the adrenaline of fast paced and somewhat dubious mixing excites the young selector. Our first premiere of the week is a match made in heaven as Serbian techno connoisseur Lag teams up with Jerome Hill’s imprint, Don’t for a powerful 4 track EP. We premiere the track ‘Frka Frka’ a sub trembling club tool, this one is absolutely off the charts. Serbian techno master Lag has been a favourite of mine for a very long time and his music has been a staple in my DJ sets for quite some time. The esteemed techno producer and DJ boasts a distinct sound that is characterised to be rhythmic, bassy, playful and groovy. The broken techno boss has featured on acclaimed labels such as Mord, Elements, Upperberry, THEM & more. Lag’s distinctive sound has made him a favourite for DJ’s over the years. The Local Selection Mix returns with a mind bending trip from one of Dublin’s most under rated DJs and producers, Outl1er. The young gun has provided an hour of chaotic breakbeats, mind bending synth lines and pounding percussive rhythms. Undivided was established in early 2021 by Dublin natives Ian McCarthy (Amak) & Aaron Page (PageOne), with a goal to showcase emerging local and international talent in electronic music.
