Over the last month, we’ve had very little in the way of Berlin School & the more uptempo electronic genre, giving way to a large number of promos heading our way carrying the musical styles of modular, symphonic, neoclassical & diverse selection of ambient sounds. Once again, introducing new exciting artists in many fields, fifteen in total. It’s been a while since we played some vintage sounds, from the late 90s into the new decade are two tracks from the group influenced by Kraftwerk, Elektronische-Maschine. To celebrate the music of the first 25 years, Timescape have a series of compilations released with Instrumental vocal and ambient highlights, with a track from their new EP “The Endless Journey” recorded in 2021, opening this edition. It’s certainly starting off this new year with a host of new releases, already filling this one & our forthcoming Feb edition, featuring some of our well known musicians with their new albums, including who's music has spanned over many decades includes Airsculpture, Andy Pickford, Erik Wollo, Ian Boddy & Sam Rosenthal. It was great to see one of the old school, Peter Beasley back with a new album who has been fighting with Parkinson disease since 2002. Making their debut on our first edition of 2022 are the band 70db consists of two well-known musicians Steve Schroyder & Wolfram Spyra, plus Rainer Vonviel, Udo P. Leis, & B. Ashra, with a live set of electronics commissioned for the 100th birthday of the Schöneberg Town Hall in Berlin in 2014,. The special thing about the live performance of "70db" was the use of 3 real church bells weighing tons on the stage to use with the music. Happy to say we had a great response to our 200th Special Edition with over 3700 plays just on Soundcloud alone, one of the ten music sites Sequences can be heard on. Two hundred, not out! Sounds like a cricket score but in fact, it’s a measure of the achievement of Mick Garlick in publishing ‘Sequences’. Initially, an audio cassette, then a magazine/CD, and now a podcast. Sequences magazines were compiled by Mick with reviews and interviews by several other contributors, all edited by Mick into a cohesive look at contemporary and vintage Electronic Music. Sequences Podcast No 192 It’s been a hectic month so far delaying producing the usual two editions. So, here we have the latest, no 192, with the next one streaming at the beginning of June. A quick word on the new faces are Elderado Omega a dark ambient/drone project from Atlanta USA, Gydja, (Abby Helasdottir) on Winter-Light with expansive drones, woven through with intricate percussive elements unearthly vocals, and atmospheric field recordings, French composer and multi-instrumentalist Christine Ott weaves a unique dramaturgy between contemporary classical and electro-acoustic music, with Silver Galaxy a four-piece lineup fronted by Anna Maria Van Reusel a Berlin-based musician/producer working in a broad spectrum of sounds. From the archives comes a track from the album Ex Cathedra by Kubusschnit formed in 1999 on the base of WEirD by musicians of that group Andy Bloyce and Jens Peschke then adding Ruud Heij and Tom Coppens.
