Jerry Cavallaro is a filmmaker and the Associate Director of the Orlando Film Festival, which has become renowned for being a filmmaker’s festival. It is essentially for filmmakers by filmmakers. We had a great chat with Jerry about the Orlando Film Festival philosophy and this year’s festival which kicks off it’s 2016 run tonight with a film called Te Ata at 7:30. Jerry had a lot to share about how a film festival is programmed and what the Orlando Film Festival is looking in submissions from filmmakers and shared some of the most exciting films that will be screening at this year’s fest. 42 Seconds of Happiness is an award winning feature film directed by Christina Kallas and produced by Emmy nominated Allison Vanore. In this episode we talk about their long journey to bring this unique film to life. Both of these talented women had a ton of insight into making a film and getting a film made. He is a graduate of NYU’s TISCH School of the Arts and he’s held jobs at HBO, CBS, as well as Pandemonium Films. He had some great input and advice for screenwriters and filmmakers alike. Mahogany J. Slide is a 23 year old Filmmaker who has been making movies since her youth. In that time she has made several short films and a feature film and continues to be a prolific storyteller, always working on something. At 20 years old she has already become a prolific storyteller with several short films under her belt, a rapidly growing YouTube and social media following and is about to release her first feature film for sale digitally.
