We live in a broken world that is full of threats and dangers. Our lives can get turned upside down in an instant. It would be nice if faith in God means that nothing bad happens to us but that’s not the case. Sometimes we’re in pretty scary situations. Many Christians today feel that our culture is regressing, that as a western society we are losing our soul. But this is not a totally new feeling. David felt many times that his world was crumbling. Sooner or later we all experience pain, all of us have troubles. This Sunday we’ll look at God’s work in the life of Naaman, the Syrian army leader, who suffers with an incurable illness. We’ll discover how God is using Naaman’s pain to fulfill His purpose. God is using a slave girl to bring about a heart transformation. Motivation. What was the motivation behind the words? Intentions. What was the intention behind this deed? In our politically charged climate, we scrutinize every word or deed of public people, trying to define intention and motivation behind these. The Bible tells us that we must do everything in the name of Jesus. What does it mean then to bake cookies, to pass a test, to work hard at school or in your job, to put on that dress, to drive that car, to serve, to speak those words, to smile and to be kind in the name of Jesus?Support the show

We live in a world where storms can strike out of nowhere. Some are small storms. Some are huge. But when those storms strike it can feel like we are being tossed around by waves that push us in all sorts of different directions. In that kind of world, Paul calls us to let the peace of Christ reign in our hearts. It sounds like a great idea, but how do we dot that?Support the show

Colossians 3:12-14Baseball players wear baseball uniforms. Soccer players wear soccer uniforms. The Apostle Paul tells us that if we are Christians we have a “uniform” as well – we are to dress ourselves with compassion, kindness, gentleness, humility and patience.
