Ephesians 4:7-16 We often feel like it's easiest to get along with people if they are a lot like us (though sometimes it's a problem if they're too much like us). Paul, however, tells us that we are to be united even though we are all different - we have been given different gifts and responsibilities by God. Ephesians 4:1-6 For the first half of the letter to the Ephesians Paul has been telling us who we are – we are in Christ, we are saved by grace, we are part of a new family. Now Paul starts to tell us what that means. How will our lives look if we really have been saved by God’s grace? Ephesians 3: 14-21 Is it possible to know a lot about God but to have never experienced his love and power? What if we live spiritually poor when we are called to spiritual riches? Can it be that we are Christians who live with a degree of phoniness and inauthenticity? Apostle Paul has an answer to this situation. Today's text from Ephesians is in fact Paul's prayer for us. Being able to give someone good news is a great thing. Being able to say “You’re hired,” or “You got an A” or “You made the team” is a wonderful thing to be able to do. The Apostle Paul felt that way about tell people that God loves them-He couldn’t imagine a better calling- even if it was sometimes really difficult. Ephesians 2:11-22 You may have heard someone say it or you may have said it yourself: Jesus I like: his followers, not so much. I like to spend time with Jesus but sometimes I struggle spending time with other Christians. They can be so hard to get along with, so pig-headed, so arrogant. They don't all think like me or look like me. This morning we'll take a look at what Paul says to the Ephesians about getting along with each other.Support the show

Ephesians 2:1-10 There’s an old saying that goes like this: If you see a turtle on a fence post, you know that it didn’t get there on its own. I think Paul wants us to remember something like that. He wants us to remember that when we find ourselves experiencing God’s blessings, we didn’t get there on our own. We are saved by grace and grace alone.Support the show

Ephesians 1:15-23 Prayer is one of those things that most of us know we should do. The Bible tells us to pray. Our parents told us to pray. The pastor tells us to pray. But what do we pray for when we pray for others? What do we ask God to give them? This morning we'll take a look at Paul's prayer for the Ephesians and think about what we can pray when we pray for each other. Support the show

Are all people God’s natural children? On the one side, God is the Creator of all people. On the other side, not everyone is a natural Child of God. The concept of being God’s adopted kids is unique to the Christian faith and it prompts us to proclaim to all that Christ Jesus, the Creator of everyone, can also become a father to all who believe. On Father’s Day Sunday let’s take a deeper look at this unique privilege all the disciples have: to be adopted by God, to be his heirs, and to be invited to sit at the Lord’s table as members in the family of God. This is the greatest privilege a human can have.Support the show

Ruth 1:1-5; 4:13-17 This Sunday is a special time when we are reminded of our mothers. We're going to look together at an Old Testament survival story of a Jewish mother-in-law, Naomi, and her Moabite daughter-in-law, Ruth. In their story God shows his providential care for Jews and non-Jews alike during a devastating famine and the untimely death of loved ones. In the middle of the storms we're tempted to forget God, but his grace is always sufficient in our weakness; his perfect plan and his unconditional love are always acting on our behalf.Support the show

I Get a New Body - 1 Corinthians 15:25-44 Some of us love our bodies. Some of us hate our bodies. Some of us don’t think much about our bodies. The Bible says that because Jesus rose from the dead with a new body, we too will get new bodies one day. What will they be like? Will they be the same? Different? Romans 6:9-11; 2 Corinthians 5:17 Christians make a big deal out of Easter Sunday. We celebrate and sing and put out flowers and talk about new life. We declare that we have hope and joy. Easter is a great Sunday. But what difference does Easter make on Monday? Does anything really change because Jesus rose from the dead? That's the question we're asking again this morning. Now that Easter is over, what does it mean that my old nature is crucified with Christ? How do I personally experience the resurrecting power in my daily life? How is Christ alive in me? This Sunday we’re beginning a three week series on a sixteenth century document called the Heidelberg Catechism.
