Deirdre O'Kane is a great stand up and actress who many Irish people know from her stage and tele work. She was recently the lead in Noble which was also a project she got off the ground. We chatted about the frustrations of the comedy game and also had a great chat about Waking the Feminists, repeal the 8th and abortion law in Ireland. Jordan is the lead singer of the Comedy trio Axis of Awesome. I have known Jordan for a good few years and I was really shocked when I saw her facebook post last year that she was coming out as a woman. It was great to chat to her about her journey, how life is like since, how it was before and what its like performing now as a woman. I put my foot in it loads, messed up the pro nouns and learned a lot from the first friend I have known that has transitioned. Kevin Bridges is one of the UK's biggest acts and really needs no intro. Kev and I drove around Glasgow, played squash and headed to his childhood estate. We chatted about the media stories about hecklers at his shows, growing up working class in Glasgow, learning Spanish, his love of prank calls, his early stand up days and turning Football chants into Church hymns. Jason Byrne is one of Ireland's greatest comics. I sat down with him on a discarded couch on the edge of the meadows in Edinburgh. We chatted about his childhood in Dublin, being a dad and trying to be a good husband. When he starts talking about his Dad I had a pain in my stomach. Chris Gethard is the star of the Chris Gethard show, Broad City, Don't Think Twice and member of the Upright Citizens Brigade improv group. I saw his show Career Suicide at the Ed Fringe about his battle with depression. We chatted about depression, suicide, being funny about tough subjects and oddly enough about his one man show about Daryl Strawberry of the 86 NY Mets. Australian born to Sri Lankan parents, Nazeem has been finding Comedy from his experiences of growing up Muslim in Australia. We chatted about the post 9/11 world, his start as a funny man in the mosque, being followed by the Aussie version of the CIA, ISIS and being a religious comedian. I took Ian Edwards and Leonard Ouzts cruising around Dublin in a BMW. It was their first time there. We rolled up on some unsuspecting locals, toured the "Irish Ghetto" and chatted about race, Bill O'Reilly, Trump, Gentrification, and a bit about their backgrounds.
