Indie Game Ravers

Hey! It’s our new show, here, on the internet. Each week we’re going to get together and geek out weakly about a topic. There’ll be guests, interviews and a variety of different discussions covered from video games, movies and TV shows. This week Ben and Aadil delve into Star Wars and the world of The Mandalorian Season 1. We discuss the story, our favourite episodes and scenes, the characters and the production of the show and its music. Geek Out Weakly will be live on twitch every Monday at midday GMT. Lucy has a week off the beers, Aadil drinks his remaining stocks and Ben drinks big. Aadil returns to the beer52 box to start, drinking the Festbier from ABK. Ben tucks into Apocalypse Dreams from Whiplash. We have a conversation on supporting independent brewers and shops and the changing beer scene with lockdown 2 looming. Lucy has finished Super Luckys Tale and Carto and gives her thoughts on Pacer from R8 Games. Aadil cracks a second beer, Left Handed Giants Plentiful Rains and Ben jumps the water to check out Adroit Theory with Evangelion XIII: Bardiel. Ben then chats October’s PS Plus game Vampry and Aadil has been sat on a virtual plane in Airplane Mode.

We have a big three beer week this episode. Aadil and Ben delve into their Octoberfest Beer52 boxes whilst Lucy drinks some big beers. The games we have played this week do a good job of leading us down tangents, discussions on other games, working practises and even some Fast and the Furious. Lucy starts off with early thoughts on Disc Room and she has finished Cats Organized Neatly. Ben mentioned Virtual Cottage before a longer discussion on Family, a game on itch.io from Owl_Skip. After more beers are opened Ben talks Fall Guys Season 2, with discussions on Among US, Warewolf and Hades creeping in, to then finish out the episode chatting Media Molecules Dreams. We’ve all got beers and we’ve all played games. Aadil kicks off with his thoughts on The Solitaire Conspiracy. Ben has put some time into Star Wars Squadrons and Lucy has played both Cats Organized Neatly and I Am Dead. Ben drinks Saturated in Idaho 7 from Deya and Weird Beard’s Armus Stout. Lucy starts with Neil Gets Things Done by Verdant Brewing and finish with the Ethiopian Cold Brew IPA from Overtone Brewing Co. Aadil was gifted a birthday beer and drinks the House IPA from Howling Hops then sees out the show with Massive IPA from Great South Bay Brewery.

We span the gaming spectrum on the show this week and jump between the US, UK and Germany for the beers. Aadil starts with his thoughts on Genshin Impact, which he streamed earlier in the day. Ben then provides a Crusader Kings 3 update and gives his initial impressions on The Solitaire Conspiracy. A slight detour sees us chat about Magic the Gathering and The Walking Dead’s money-making schemes then Lucy finishes discussing a few smaller experiences in Hadr, Bonfire Peaks, A Monsters Expedition and Disc Room. We delve into some more games this week including a couple of newer releases. Lucy gives her take on When The Past Was Around, has run through Donkey Kong Country 2 and played Across The Grooves. She also chats a little Super Mario Bros. 35. Somehow we get onto Spider-Mans face and the PlayStation 5 upgrades debacle. Ben then chats Tell Me Why, Serious Sam 4, then give very early impressions of Crusader Kings 3. Aadil finishes out the show with his thoughts on the survival game Among Trees. This week we dive into discussions on three games, first Rip Them Off from Lozange Lab which we’ve all played. Lucy gives her thoughts on Inkle’s new game Pendragon and we finish with Aadil’s thoughts on When the Past was Around from Mojiken which he streamed earlier in the day. For beers this week Ben drinks Forgotten Dreams from Pipeline Brewing Co and Odyssey Brew Co Return of the Boom Bap. Lucy has another Overtone beer in Lotus Oat Cream NEIPA and then Left Handed Giants Sky Above. Aadil drinks two supermarket collab stouts, first Vocation X Brew York Sweet Temptation and second Nothern Monk X Lervig Norse Star.

This week we discuss a lot of games. Lucy gives us her thoughts on Lair of the Clockwork God, Silent Hill, The Coma 2, Tony Hawks Pro Skater and A Monsters Expedition. Ben has his investigative hat on and deep dives into Paradise Killer. The beers this week are, for Lucy, Pale Loral from Overtone Brewing Co and the Westmalle Triple. Aadil drinks Wiper & Trues Kaleidoscope and a Peanut butter milk stout from Tailgate Beer. Ben starts with Transient from Northern Monk and ends with Fear of Fog from Left Handed Giant.

We get together this week to discuss the new Xbox consoles, this was before the Series X price was announced, briefly touch on Paradise Killer and delve into our thoughts on Spiritfarer. A few technical difficulties in Birmingham kick Lucy off the pod before she gets to discuss Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2. Its a Ben-free episode! Aadil and Lucy are joined by guest Adam Thomas, supping a cool Dr. Pepper. We talk about “Fall Guys”, their social engagement and charity competition. Adam talks the intricacies of “Rocket League” and its upcoming changes. We also talk about “The Last Campfire”, “If Found…”, “Metamorphosis” and “Four Last Things”. Sean has been thinking about The Last of Us and violence in games, Dave has played Divinity Original Sin 2 and Lucy discusses both Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town and touches on Milky Way Prince. Lucy and Ben get together again in their second discussion on The Last of Us Part II. This time they focus on Abby’s journey and the final act of the game. They delve into Abby’s time in Seattle. Ellie on the farm and her search in California then to the game’s closing scenes and how they felt about the experience.
