It’s Paris Games Week and Sony have thrown a lot of information out there and in their own words ‘E3 was only half the story.’ Ben and Dave run through the pre-show and media showcase giving their thoughts on the announcements, trailers, and the games shown. Also this is it. The end of an era for XFire and the final episode. But don’t worry as Ben and Dave will be back to talk all the Playstation news and views on a weekly basis soon with a new show, to be announced soon.

“Ohh, a week early” you’re thinking. Well that’s because Dave has returned and he’s raring to talk all the latest PlayStation news. We kick off with PSVR chat, games and units sold. Sony Music Entertainment has a new gaming label called Unties, odd we know. Horizon the Frozen Wilds gets a new, extremely pretty trailer and Star Wars Battlefront 2 gets a, extremely hideous, limited edition PS4 console. GT Sport is almost here (It will be when you listen to this) and we find out that the police play it all day whilst listening to Lewis Hamilton’s sumptuous tones to help in training. We end on Last of Us 2 news, which isn’t really news but its fun to speculate.

That’s right! Out of Rupees returns to give you the rundown on all the games released since our E3 episodes released! We were so busy playing them we forgot to record an episode about them! (Not really; Francis was on a very long holiday… students eh?) Francis and Andy chat about Sonic Mania, Mario & Rabbids, StarFox, a Detective Puzzle game and more!    

Whilst Dave’s away Ben has co-opted his Tanked Up co-host Aadil away from his work to discuss Playstation news. The news is filled with games, Octobers PS Plus games to start. Then to Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds on PS4, maybe. Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a complete edition which will be released soon after the Frozen Wilds dlc. GT Sport has a timed demo, get on that now, and Anthem will probably have a beta. Star Wars Battlefront 2 did have a beta. For the most boring news of the week Firmware 5.0 is live. We talk Child of Light, drunken couch co-op after the Bristol Craft Beer Festival. Aadil talks a little about BoJack Horseman and its emotional realism, and Hexcells: Infinite. But don’t worry Ben played some games: “Total War – Warhammer”, the Chaos Warrior race DLC, “Subsurface Circular” and its very cool Developer Commentary mode, “The Vanishing of Ethan Carter”, the “Call of Duty WW2 beta”. The games we talk about are Far Cry 5, Shooty Fruity, Sea of Thieves and Strange Brigade which Dave played at EGX and from TGS, Final Fantasy 9, Dissidia NT, Dragons Crown Pro, Shadow of the Colossus, PSVR, Zone of the Enders, Left Alive and Monster Hunter: World.

We’ve got a real special episode this week. Aadil is on the tail-end of his trip in Canada, and met up with one of the brewers over at Wild Rose Brewery in Calgary, Mark Kerrigan. We start out with the usual challenge of gaming/life balance, then Mark’s partialness to all things Bethesda as well as our console histories and LAN cafes and parties. Dave has dedicated his life to Destiny 2 whilst Ben continues to weep over his stolen machine. After the barrage of Destiny goodness they get into the news which mostly involves a lot of ports. L.A. Noire, Shenmue 1 & 2, Vanquish & Bayonetta, Okami HD and Dragons Crown Pro are all discussed. We’re still down on PS Now and breeze over the new games added to the service before talking about the highs and lows of Destiny 2’s release and how Playstation 4 Pro and PSN have, or haven’t, coped with it. This is followed by more chart news, ugly PS4s, a PvP beta for Ghost Recon: Wildlands and a final descent into three lettered conference chaos.

This week we start off with a geography lesson, and then straight on to burglary. Weddings and chauffeuring (along with the astonishing reveal about Ben and perogies). We wax intellectual, read: gripe, about time passing and being old and not recognising places we used to live/go to. We then talk “Sonic Mania”, as well as some highlights of the current switch library, Zelda: A Link to the Past. How bad do original polygon games look today… Our console histories… and Pyro-mania. We haven’t played much this week. Dave’s got no time and Ben doesn’t have a PS4 because it was stolen. A small rant ensues about Ben’s predicament which turns into love for Resogun. Dave probably won’t play it though with all the time issues he has. The news flows from PS Plus September games to PSVR price cuts, not for the UK, to new PSVR games. A table saw decides to join the conversation which turns to to crystal control pads, not for the UK, and Uncharted Lost Legacy, which was also stolen from Ben. Ben, Lucy and Aadil get together to discuss Sonic Mania, Call of Duty WW2 beta, Linelight and Framed 2 as well as the nostalgic ‘SEGA’ intro, SEGA the publisher, Battlefield (of course) and a couple of point and click games were mentioned. The beers this week are Oskar Blues ‘Beerito’ Mexican Lager and Sierra Nevada ‘Tropical Torpedo’ American IPA for Aadil. Lucy drinks Firestone Walker/Beavertown ‘West Side Beavo’ Lager and ‘Peacher Man’ Belgian Wit from Beavertown. Ben has the last of his Estonian beers with the Õllenaut ‘Sesoon’ Rye Saison and Põhjala ‘Must Kuld’ coffee porter.

We talk changing difficulty levels and going through old games, and new ones with the new ‘Story-mode’ in Horizon. We then talk about dream jobs tasting beers, and testing video games. It’s Gluten-free week here at Tanked Up. All beers this week are gluten-free for all you celiacs out there. Both Ben and Aadil start off with the “Mikeller” ‘I Wish’ IPA. Ben follows it up with ‘Fantasma’ IPA from “Magic Rock”. Aadil has the “Brewdog” ‘Vagabond’ Pale Ale.

Dave’s played Uncharted on easy! whilst Ben’s been playing Hellblade on absolutely brutal smash your face in difficulty. Also mentioned just a little, No Man’s Sky and the Atlus Rises DLC (expansion?). The news this week features all the autumn/winter games conferences, Gamescom, Paris games week and PSX, and the games Life is Strange: Before the Storm, We Happy Few and The Last of Us 2. Playstation’s European and UK social media also hints at a big reveal after getting hacked.

We’re back, after a brief summer hiatus and we are talking “Hellblade”, gaming droughts and the room 1 & 2 before moving on to this week’s topic. Loot boxes, pay-to-win and children gambling. Also Aadil gets a little yelly at the end… for biological reasons. Its a special beer week, celebrating the “Honest Brew” fan designed special edition brew ‘Free Lunch’ in collaboration with “Northern Monk”. Lucy has the ‘Travel Notes’ International IPA from “Northen Monk” and “Fieldwork”, as well as Lonely Planet.

This week we talk ‘Splatoon 2’, the ‘Destiny 2’ beta, ‘Yonder: the cloud chronicles’ and ‘The Final Station’ before moving on to our topic. A Czech brewery “Aurosa” has emerged releasing the ‘first beer for her’® a pink-bottled number, discussion ensues. Lego may be mentioned. Aadil starts things off with the ‘Yellow Sub’ IPA from “Blacks of Kinsale” (Cork), while Ben has the “Põhjala” dry-hopped Saison ‘Hooaeg’. They both try out the ‘Loral & Ardi’ trippel collaboration from the folks over at “Cloudwater/verdant/Lost & Grounded”. Lucy takes on the “Fierce/Beer 52” collaboration ‘Pink Grapefruit Pale Ale’.

Ben and Dave get together to discuss a selection of Playstation news from the last two weeks, what they’ve been playing and add another Game to Dave’s list of must plays. There’s a little focus on PS Plus too after a rather infuriating email was received by those subscribed to the service. The games featured this week are Until Dawn (Again), The Uncharted Collection, Just Cause 3, Freedom Cry, Downwell, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and God Of War 4.
