Sinopse

Pub Songs aren't just songs about drinking. For The Celtfather, these are fun songs you can sing-along and enjoy. Some are Irish or Scottish. Others are smash hits at science fiction conventions. Geek Pub Songs highlights the music of Marc Gunn, as well music from Celtic and Geek musicians that he loves. You'll enjoy this music over a pint at your local pub or while hanging out in your local game store. It's a show to make you smile.

The American impact on Irish music and my new CD is the theme of the first episode of the Pub Songs Podcast in 2014. I'm holding a fundraiser to help pay for the album before it is released. In this show I sing three songs found on the album with my Americanized twist on Irish songs on the autoharp. It's beautiful fusion of music. I hope you enjoy the show. Watch the show on YouTube! Oh! For the final Pub Songs Podcast of the year, I wanted to bring you some more Christmas music. This is not as much Celtic Christmas music as just some good Christmas standards. Well, except for the new Hobbit Christmas song. Is that the first ever? Boh!? Anyway, I want to wish you all a very happy and joyous Christmas. • A Semi-Celtic Christmas #127

    05/12/2013 Duração: 19min

I love Celtic Christmas music about as much as I love classic Christmas music. The holidays are upon us. I'm in the Christmas spirit. I also need to start practicing for this year's Christmas show here in Birmingham when I perform at The Summit Christmas Market in about a week and a half. I have a lot of songs I need to work on, including some new Celtic Christmas songs. Oh! Then there's that hobbit Christmas song. Hmm. I have a lot of work to do. In the meantime, I thought I'd share my Celtic Christmas practice session with you. • Celtic Music News #125

    04/10/2013 Duração: 07min

I'm very pleased to bring you an extra interesting show today. I have some big news for the week, but to some degree it feels like repetition of news I've already shared. Yes, it is a progress report, and I made a lot of progress, but I need something different. So this week, I decided to step back a couple hundred years to live like a bard of old and share with you the news of the week, like bards might've done. Since I winged the entire recording, it's far from perfect, but at least you're getting the info. I'd love your thought on it too.   News Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion CD is done. • Pub Songs, Celtic Christmas and Community #124

    25/09/2013 Duração: 25min

It was another busy week. I'm still at work on two CDs: Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion and A Celtic Christmas. Both are nearing completion. I have one more song to finish mixing for the Scottish CD and I'm getting ready to send the Christmas album to the printers. It was fully funded on Kickstarter as of yesterday. This is a huge triumph for me. My compilation CDs are incredible tools for promoting indie Celtic bands. And I am SO happy to be able to help these bands receive greater attention. If we raise enough money, I plan to hire a publicist to give the album even more attention. The other great thing about this compilation is that it will also be used to raise money for both the podcast and Celtic non-profits. I've given away over $15K to Celtic non-profits since I started producing compilation CDs. I'm extremely excited to have such a fine compilation that will raise even more money every Christmas. 16/09/2013 Duração: 13min

In an effort to keep the Pub Songs Podcast on its weekly schedule, I decided to release a show today. This one has no corresponding video, sadly. I'm kinda swamped with mixing and mastering CDs. So I decided to do the quickest show possible to stay on schedule and still do everything else I need to get done. • Dragon Sci Fi Drinking Songs Live #122

    05/09/2013 Duração: 54min

Once again, DragonCon ended with a bang and a live Pub Songs Podcast by yours truly. The con was wild and crazy fun, as has always been typical with reunions of the Brobdingnagian Bards. That's what the weekend was all about for me. However, this was my only solo show and as always a great way to end the con.   Music: "Isn't It Grand, Boys (to be Walking Dead)" "Monahan's Mudder's Milk" "It's Good to Have Jayne on Your Side" "Don't Go Drinking With Hobbits" "Lord of the Pounce" "Danny Boy (Cat version)" "Wherever I May Roam" "Doctor of Gallifrey" "Close Your Eyes" "Wild Mountain Thyme" "Zombie Love Song" "Come Take a Trip in My Airship"

  • Dragon Con 2013 Preparation #121

    27/08/2013 Duração: 26min

We are just two days away from the big Invasion of DragonCon 2013. This year, I will be performing with the Brobdingnagian Bards for a weekend of Celtic Renaissance insanity. You never what's gonna happen. In preparation, I decided to record another Pub Songs Podcast live on Google Hangouts. I am thrilled to report that the sounds issues that haunted the last two podcasts are resolved. I used my Edirol digital recorder to capture his podcast recording while my computer managed the video recording to YouTube. This meant, I had good sound and as good video as I can get. The next show won't be released on Google Hangouts, I don't think... But it will be coming live from DragonCon as I perform the last concert of the convention at 2:30pm in the Podcast Track. I hope to see you there!   News Watch this podcast on YouTube Memories of Middle Earth (remixed and remastered) goes on sale on September 22, pre-release on iTunes on Sept 3rd DragonCon Schedule Why My Own Blog Is Better Than Facebook Or Twitter Vote for you

  • The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem Biography #120

    06/08/2013 Duração: 30min

Today's show is dedicated to The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. If you love Celtic music and you're not familiar with the group, you're missing out. They are one of the reasons Gunns & Drums is recording an album called "How America Saved Irish Music". They're a shining example. Once again, the show is suffering from some technical difficulties. I hope you will bare with me as I work out all of the details to offer you an awesome live show. This audio recording is filled with clicks. The alternative is you can listen to the show on YouTube, however, the audio quality there is horrible too. So pick one and decide which is the lesser of two evils. Again, my apologies. I hoep you enjoy the show nonetheless. I will be back next Tuesday morning for the next live show. Oh! And if you have questions or comments, please post them in the shownotes, or on the YouTube channel. I want to hear your comments. You can also help me choose which song to play in the next show. I keep planning on doing a YouTube video on my three pieces of advice for new parents, but I'm still not totally comfortable with quickly and easily recording videos. There's something that always keeps me from it. It's my own lack of confidence. But with eight years of recording audio podcasts, I figured I'll just go ahead and do an audio podcast and I'll record the video later. My Kickstarter campaign is a huge success. There are five days left in the campaign. I am $400 away from my second stretch goal. Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered this album and helped me hit the ball out of the park with this CD.
