Once we see Jesus, we are compelled to tell others who he truly is! Join us at Mat Johnson unpacks our last lesson in the "My King" series.

Where is Jesus now, and what does he look like? In this lesson, we go to the book of Revelation, and learn about a church that had lost their love for Jesus. How did Jesus reach out to them? By reminding them of who he was and what he looked like. He's the only one worthy to be King!

People who understand, embrace, and follow Christ as supreme move from “Jesus is my mascot” to “Jesus is my Monarch.” If we can see Jesus for who he is, in his power and might, we will see a God big enough to capture our awe through their teenage years, college years, and through adulthood, building a lasting faith. Our Scripture comes from Luke 24, Hebrews 1, and Psalm 110.

: In Luke 7, we find the account of Jesus crashing a funeral. A widow was morning the unexpected death of her son. She was experiencing grief in every way imaginable. When Jesus saw her grief, his heart went out to her, he comforted her, and raised her son back to life! As Christians, we have been promised the same through Jesus. Although crises in life are unavoidable, just as Jesus raised the widow’s son to life, he will return to earth and “Wipe away every tear from our eyes.” But, we live in the “in-between,” having experienced loss, yet waiting for the return of Jesus. Those of us who live in the “in-between” have the opportunity to experience the comfort of Jesus when we look to him.

Lot’s poor decision and reluctance to leave Sodom started closing-in on him. Angels show up at his door to rescue him from God’s judgment on Sodom, but he can’t bear to leave the city. It becomes very evident that the sinfulness of Sodom has rubbed off on Lot in the worst way possible. In a HUGE act of mercy, God rescues Lot and his daughters from the fire that consumed Sodom.

When Lot moved to Sodom, it seemed as if Abraham had lost any spiritual influence he may have had on his nephew. But Abraham had a secret weapon: The presence of God and the power of prayer. I’m never more like Jesus than when I’m praying for my friends.

• It doesn’t take long before Lot moves from the outskirts of the city to the city center. So it is with the gravitational pull of sin. As a result of the promiscuous lifestyle of the Sodomites, Lot and his family become hostages of another kingdom. Abram, his faithful uncle, rescues him from captivity, and, on their way from war, they meet an unusual King. Abram is faced with a choice: Obey the righteous king (Melchizedek) or the worldly king (Bera). Abram honored the righteous king, while Lot followed the worldly king. Students today face the same choice: Worship the one true King (Jesus), or kings of this world (idols).

We're kicking off the school year by looking at the life of Lot. Lot had a knack for making all the wrong decisions, and is a helpful example of mistakes to avoid when starting the school year. Scripture: Genesis 13

The falling-out between Saul and David is well-documented in Scripture. Motivated by fear, jealousy, and pride, King Saul sent his army to watch David’s house in order to kill him. He was preoccupied with David’s destruction. How should a Christian teenager deal with someone who has bad blood toward them? Psalm 59 gives us a sneak peek into David’s prayer in response to Saul.

Sometimes, the pain in our lives caused by others is something we can’t just shake off. Psalm 137 is a prayer, written by Levites in Jerusalem, lamenting the destruction of their city, and begging God to display his justice. Others may have moved on, but God has not forgotten your pain.

It’s harder than ever to be a teenager. Living for Jesus in today world can be tough, but by daily reading and applying God’s Word, you can be victorious in life!

What in the world does the Bible have to say about the crazy world of teenage dating? Surprisingly, a lot! Listen as we use Romans 12:1-2 as a template to renew our minds with God's wisdom when it comes to dating.

As Wyatt takes us through our second week of “Alive,” we can be thankful that, through Jesus, we have a physical resurrection in the future, and a resurrection life RIGHT NOW!
