Viśvanātha Cakravartī. He has studied. He said that the mission of Lord Caitanya is ārādhyo bhagavān vrajeśa-tanaya: "Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is ārādhya." Ārādhya means He is worshipable. He's the only worshipable personality. Ārādhyo bhagavān vrajeśa-tanaya tad-dhāmaṁ vṛndāvanam [Caitanya-mañjusā]: The Supreme Personality of Godhead, the son of Nanda Mahārāja, is to be worshiped along with His transcendental abode, Vṛndāvana. The most pleasing form of worship for the Lord is that which was performed by the gopīs of Vṛndāvaṇa. Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the spotless authority on everything, and pure love of God is the ultimate goal of life for all men. Also, to those who are engaged in cooking for the Lord, this is perhaps the most intimate service that anyone can have, except for cleaning. Because those who take the time to clean the kitchen after they've cooked take the part of it that is not always glorified as much—it's unseen. When you take service that's not seen and not applauded and you offer it to the Lord, knowing that the only one watching is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, within your heart, it's such an intimate connection. And Prabhupāda said that our temples should be revolutionary clean. Any organization—you can judge how well they're doing by looking at their restrooms to start with. Do they actually care? Just a brief comment about the process of chanting Japa or praying in general, and the concept of tushta or satisfaction: why it's satisfying. And one of the sources of anxiety in the mind is given in the phrase FOMO. Does anybody know about FOMO? Fear of missing out. There's always a sense in the material realm: no matter what I've got, somebody's got something better. If you get 10 million dollars, first of all, it's already spent in your mind. And second of all, somebody has 10 billion dollars. So, it's not that satisfying. There's always something more somewhere else I'm missing out on. And Bhaktivinod Thākur says, “nāma binā kichu nāhiko āro, caudda-bhuvana-mājhe.” When you're taking the Holy Name, you're not missing anything because, as we were speaking earlier, Krishna's the master of all powers. If one serves faithfully, there is no possibility of frustration because the Lord Himself takes charge of the devotee’s advancement. The Lord is seated in everyone’s heart, and He knows the devotee’s motive and arranges everything achievable. In other words, the pseudo devotee, who is anxious to achieve material gains, cannot attain the highest perfectional stage because the Lord is in knowledge of his motive. When making offerings, we want to bring the best to Kṛṣṇa and his representative. And the best of what we have to offer is what the Lord and his devotees, specifically His Divine Grace A. C. Our teacher who led with the Bhagavad-gītā when he came to the west called it the Vedic intelligence. One of the practices of Krishna Consciousness is to, as my god brother told me in New York City just a couple of months ago—his name is Pradyumna; he's always bugging me to continue learning Sanskrit, which I've done in fits and starts. I usually do it to procrastinate when I'm writing a book and I think, "Well, maybe I'll learn Sanskrit instead because it seems easier." And I saw him on the street out in front of one of our centers in New York City called The Bhakti Center, and we greeted one another and just asked how we were. I asked how he was doing; he asked how I was doing. I said, "Fine," and he said, "Fine." Then he asked, "How's the Sanskrit?" I said, "Well, um..." and he already knows my Sanskrit teacher and had already told him that I hadn't talked to him in a couple months. When one's ear becomes tuned to the love story in the spiritual world between Kṛṣṇa and his devotees, and the heart becomes attracted—which is the result of the process of devotional service, as Rūpa Gosvāmī mentions—that by continuously hearing and chanting, one starts to notice that there is another situation beyond the material world: that of the devotees of the Lord in the spiritual world. One becomes attracted to those devotees and wants to follow in their footsteps. This is the progressive way in which one steps away from the attraction to the dangerous material world. It's the proverbial third rail, which you cannot touch without being electrocuted. This allows one then: yat-pāda-paṅkaja-palāśa-vilāsa-bhaktyā ( SB 4.22.39) through the process of cultivation of bhakti, to begin experiencing vilāsa, or the pleasure of hearing Kṛṣṇa's pastimes and the pastimes of his devotees in the spiritual world. And then today I was thinking about Dhruva Maharaj and how he had that revelation after being so intensely engaged in approaching God for some material benediction. And then upon meeting him, he recapitulated and he said, "I don't want any of this. It's just trash. All I want is you." And what is that revelation that one gets either incrementally or all at once? That's everything I'm desiring at the present time is not the best. And how Japa is a time for self-examination. Our whole life is a time for self-examination. When we're human, as a philosopher once said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." And one of the points that the Bhagvatam asks us to examine is, "What do you want?" Because whatever you're getting is a result of what you've wanted, and what you want now is going to result in getting something later. It is the duty of a Vaiṣṇava ācārya to prevent his disciples and followers from violating the principles of Vaiṣṇava behavior. He should always advise them to strictly follow the regulative principles, which will protect them from falling down. Although a Vaiṣṇava preacher may sometimes criticize others, Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa avoided this. Even if another Vaiṣṇava was actually at fault, Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa would not criticize him; he saw only that everyone was engaged in Kṛṣṇa’s service. That is the position of a mahā-bhāgavata. Actually, even if one is serving māyā, in a higher sense he is also a servant of Kṛṣṇa. Because māyā is the servant of Kṛṣṇa, anyone serving māyā serves Kṛṣṇa indirectly. ..When somebody who wants to please Kṛṣṇa, they have no other motive. Prthu Mahārāja says that vibration, it contacts Kṛṣṇa lotus feet, and that mixture, it mixes with the sound of that person's voice. Then, when you hear it, what is that? It just changed my decision in life. I was thinking that I would slog it out another lifetime and try to, as Prabhupada says in the purport here, try to adjust again to the three-fold miseries. But by hearing that vibration, it's so sweet for somebody whose motive is attuned with his or her spiritual master. Therefore, the intention to only serve Kṛṣṇa —all Kṛṣṇa, It's not for me; it's not for my aggrandizement; it's just that I want to serve Kṛṣṇa. That vibration is mixed with saffron mercy particles, says Prthu Mahārāja. Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura remarks that unless one is very highly elevated in loving the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one cannot see Him as He is. Nonetheless, if one sticks to the principles enunciated by the spiritual master, somehow or other he is in association with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Since the Lord is in the heart, He can advise a sincere disciple from within. This is also confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā (10.10): teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ yena mām upayānti te “To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.” In conclusion, if a disciple is very serious to execute the mission of the spiritual master, he immediately associates with the Supreme Personality of Godhead by vāṇī or vapuḥ. Kṛṣṇa has an intention. He's a person, He's there within our hearts, and his intention for us in the material world is one thing: just to turn our attention back to Him. I was considering how powerful Kṛṣṇa's intention is. Any one of us is free to give ourselves to anything in this world, and whenever we judge someone, we try to understand what their intention is. It's the powerful force of the living entity. But just imagine how powerful is the intention of Kṛṣṇa . If we can align with that—with His intention—then we've obtained the connection we're looking for, rather than having some independent idea about what to do or how to be happy.
