I stopped by Bike Works Beach and Sport, Queens Marketplace, Kohala Coast, Island of Hawaii and had a good time talking story with owner and long time friend Grant Miller and some of the Bike Works team. Earl Tamiya, Coach of the University of Hawaii-Hilo Vulcan golf team comments at the award ceremony for the recent Waikoloa Beach Resort 26th Amer Ari Intercollegiate Tournament.The University of Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans Division II team were once again hosts to 21 teams with 19 being Division I teams. Many of the best teams in the country participated and top amateurs in the country.Jordan Ropp, Waikoloa Asst. 26th AmerAri Invitational Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at Waikoloa Beach Resort – Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings’ Course will host the 26th Amer Ari Intercollegiate with top Division I players on Wednesday February 1- Saturday February 4, 2017.The University of Hawaii-Hilo Division II golf team, Coach Earl Tamiya, Asst' Coach Ron Takahashi, a committed group of volunteers and Waikoloa Beach Resort Head PGA Pro Kevin Ginoza and his team are host to this very well run tournament of top Division I teams from across the country. The Amer Ari is considered one of the most popular and competitive intercollegiate tournaments involving most of the Pac 12 and some of the top 10 teams in collegiate golf with certainly some of the up and coming collegiate stars and future PGA Tour Players. In 1945, the year the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago Cubs in the World Series Jack Berry's father was the Detroit Tigers Traveling Secretary. Jack reflects on his memories from that 1945 World Series and the Chicago Cubs World Series win this year. Lisa Nuszkowski, Executive Director Detroit Bike Share talks about the recent Open Streets Detroit, part of a global initiative to reclaim public space by temporarily transforming streets into paved parks and public spaces. Lisa shares how the Open Streets Detroit opened the nearly four miles of continuous roadway on Michigan Ave. (US 12) and Vernor Highway to create space for healthy activities, community building, and connection to local retail by closing it to motorized traffic. People were able to experience Michigan Ave and Vernor Ave in a new way, whether by walking, running, biking, rollerblading, or skateboarding and bringing ethnic neighborhoods together.Open Streets is a event under the Downtown Detroit Partnership. I was walking thru the Detroit Historical Museum when Wendy Rose Bice, and Gail Greenberg said hello and asked me if I was Emily Gail.
