Welcome to the first Five Minutes of Mime Special Academy Awards Salute to the Cinema Special Podcast. This week we continue to explore the connection between mime and motion pictures. It's a tale as old as time, or at least as old as the silent films of the early 1900s. And the story continues today and beyond.

In 1966 one of the greatest directors in motion pictures and the preeminent science fiction writer of the time joined forces to create a masterwork. But it took a Yankee mime in London to bring their vision to the silver screen.

This week we take a look back at two monsters of mime, Étienne Decroux and Marcel Marceau. We compare their philosophy and contrast their style.
