God’s plan gives us hope. - To King Herod, Jesus was a threat - To His Family, Jesus was familiar. - To His Disciples, Jesus was anti-climatic. - To the Pharisees, Jesus was a revolutionary. - To Pilate, Jesus was an inconvenient truth.

God’s plan gives us hope. Isaiah 9:6-7 (ESV) “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this."

We all have the same amount of time each day. Consequently, it is critical that we steward that time wisely. When we steward our time properly, we make room to steward our influence in the lives of people around us. Matthew 6:19-21 (ESV) 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ”

We all have the same amount of time each day. Consequently, it is critical that we steward that time wisely. When we steward our time properly, we make room to steward our influence in the lives of people around us. Psalm 90:12 (ESV) 12 “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

The Kingdom of God can be described as the realm where God reigns supreme, and Jesus is the King. In this kingdom, God’s authority is recognized, and his will is obeyed. In this week’s message, we learned that Jesus paired the revelation of Himself as the Christ with the first mention and start of the church. The Church is a group of people united by faith in the gospel. Matthew 16:13–17 (ESV) 13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

OUR MISSION IS TO BUILD CHRIST-CENTERED COMMUNITIES THAT HELP PEOPLE KNOW GOD, GROW IN CHRIST, AND GO IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT UNTIL JESUS RETURNS.

- Matthew 5:10 (ESV) ““Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. How do we respond to persecution? - Prioritize Jesus above anyone else - Speak to people out of love - Live righteously - Suffer well - Rejoice and be glad

Matthew 5:9 (ESV) “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."

Matthew 5:8 (ESV) “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” This week we are discussing the Pure in Heart. We shared that Holiness is a ‘cutting off’ or separation from what is unclean, and consecration to what is Pure. Purity describes both who you are as well as what you do. Pure - undefiled, undivided, clean, blameless, unstained from sin and guilt; not dirty; freedom from contamination.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” Matthew 5:7 ESV This week we are discussing mercy. Mercy can be described as compassion towards someone in need. Mercy is also forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. We pointed out this week that in order to truly show mercy, we must first receive God’s mercy

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." MAtthew 5:6 ESV "There is no perhaps no greater secret of progress in Christian living than a healthy spiritual appetite." -John Scott

Meekness is a true view of oneself expressed in attitude and conduct with respect to others. This makes us gentle, humble, sensitive and patient in all our dealings with others. -John Stott.

Northwood has always been a Generational Church. We value every generation and attempt to bridge the gaps between them to relationally leverage the wisdom and experiences of every age group. This isn’t always easy and requires a generational mindset.

The kingdom of heaven belongs to those who realize they are spiritually bankrupt apart from God’s grace and mercy.

Somewhere along the way, we lose that perspective. Because of hurt and disappointment, we lose the ability to believe, dream and love. We lose the ability to live. During this 3-week series, we want to explore what it means to live the life that God has for us to live. How can we get it back if we’ve lost the ability to believe, dream, and love?
