Clare Disability Rights Activist Hopes New Legislation Can Be Catalyst For Change
09/11/2024 Duração: 04minA Clare disability activist is hopeful that new legislation can be the catalyst for employers to change policies surrounding the employment of people with disabilities. This week the government announced the Optional Protocol to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will come into effect at the end of the month, having been acceded on October 8th. Clare Environmentalists Feel "Completely Betrayed" By Green Party On Shannon LNG
09/11/2024 Duração: 09minA Clare environmental group claim they feel "completely betrayed" by the Green Party due to the party's support for the construction a liqueified natural gas terminal. Futureproof Clare has held a demonstration outside Dáil Éireann calling on Oireachtas members to establish a clear policy against LNG terminals, following the High Court's recent decision to overturn an Bórd Pleanála's grant of planning permission for such a facility in Kerry. The Planning and Development Bill, which was passed in October, allows for a floating liquefied natural gas storage facility, meaning the construction of an LNG terminal is now permitted by law. Scariff-based Futureproof Clare spokesperson Sinead Sheehan says she's bitterly disappointed by what she sees as the Government's lack of engagement with citizens concerned about the environmental repercussions of LNG.

Taste Of The Week: Wild Catering Christmas Dish
07/11/2024 Duração: 11minOn Thursday’s Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined by Ryan Fitzpatrick, chef and owner of Wild Catering. This week Ryan shared a delicious recipe for Roast Turkey & Ham, sage & onion stuffing, roast winter vegetables, gratin potato, brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce, gravy. Method: **Roast Your Turkey**: Start by seasoning your turkey generously with salt and herbs. Roast in a preheated oven (175°C), basting occasionally, until the skin is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Use a Thermometer to ensure it doesn't cook. Let it rest before carving to ensure juicy, tender slices. **Roast Ham** Boil your ham with some carrot, onion, bay leaf and celery and allow to simmer for around 2 hours depending on the size of your ham, allow to cool in the cooking liquor. On the day glaze your ham with equal parts honey and wholegrain mustard Loosely cover with tin foil and bake in the oven at 150C (300F/Gas 2) for about an hour or perhaps a little more, depending largely on your oven.
