A homeless woman was lying across Atlantic Avenue early Thursday when she was struck and killed by a city employee in a flatbed truck who drove away from the scene, police said. The call has been edited to remove graphic descriptions.

A New York state man accused of terrorizing his girlfriend was arrested on allegations he was shooting at another woman who was trying to save the frightened girlfriend.

Orange County deputies followed five teens in a stolen vehicle into Volusia County where they watched them break into a DeBary gun shop and steal 18 firearms including handguns, shotguns and AR-10 and AR-15 rifles. An OCSO officer kept in touch with the VCSO, asking them to hold back.  The deputies followed the group back to Orlando where they arrested them after a traffic stop, according to reports. All but one of the firearms were recovered.

A 20-year-old man out boating with friends on the Intracoastal Sunday night either jumped or fell overboard at some point and disappeared under the water.

The blaze was reported at 4:55 a.m. and firefighters doused the fire which started and was initially contained in the boiler room within about 30 minutes, according to a release from the Daytona Beach Fire Department. But the fire reignited about 7:50 a.m., a fire official said. It spread from the boiler room in the back of the building to the rest of the three-story concrete hotel, gutting it as flames burned through the roof and smoke churned out of the windows.

A 16-year-old girl's mother called 9-1-1 to report the girl had been taken by a man on an ATV. Robert A. Dishman was arrested and charged with kidnapping, child abuse, interfering with custody and driving with a suspended license.

Dispatchers said someone called and said a tree had fallen on at least one person and that CPR was in progress. The man, Benjamin Allen, 56, died the next day.
