Episode 360: On Another List & Jessica Heim
03/01/2021 Duração: 54minThis humble little show has now made an appearance on yet another list. This time through The Hollywood Digest as "2020's Most Laid Back Show". Once again, we find ourselves in great company and again, we are humbled. In a way, you could say this is an "award winning" show. It's a great way to wrap up a bummer of a year and a nice kick start to 2021, for sure. In this episode, in keeping with an apparent "laid back" style, Ric sits down with actress and singer Jessica Heim for a conversation about the ups and downs of show business. Also, they play favorites and if that weren't enough, there is some overtime at the end of the show. Here's the list. NEXT WEEK: Robben Ford Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Episode 359: On A Certain List & Ian Guerin
27/12/2020 Duração: 57minThere is an old saying that goes, "Sometimes the sun will shine on a dog's ass." Although we are not 100% sure exactly what that means, it does seem to hold a bit of truth when it comes to this show. The fine people at Hollywood Entertainment News put out a list of the "Best/Most Entertaining Podcast Hosts of 2020." As shocking as it was to even make the list, Ric found himself at number 25. There are some great hosts and shows represented on that list as well. This turned out to be quite the honor. And to think Ric nearly killed off this show. Also in this episode, Ric sits down with R&B hitmaker Ian Guerin for a conversation about writing music and the entertainment life in a pandemic.NEXT WEEK: 2021 Is Here, Now What? & Jessica HeimHere's The List Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Episode 358: Merry Sort of Christmas & Wendy Stuart
20/12/2020 Duração: 01h04minAs Christmas bears down on us all, this year seems rather muted. Some people are trying to find any joy during the end of this tumultuous year. There is some hope out there and it's just going to be a matter of all of us hunkering down and getting through this together in a sort of distant matter. Along those lines, Ric sits down with model and entertainer Wendy Stuart who will bring some cheer to your eggnog , if you know what we're saying. Wendy was a fixture at Studio 54 and other influential New York Clubs as well as her modelling work and a book she has written about her experiences. If that wasn't enough, she created a cooking show to keep herself busy through the pandemic. Not bad for a Covid-19 survivor. A story you will hear in this episode.NEXT WEEK: The Exciting Conclusion of 2020 & Ian Guerin Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

13/12/2020 Duração: 57minThe time some of us have been waiting on has arrived. The vaccine is here. Naturally, there are those out there who have a problem with this. Episode 356: There Porn in The Parler & Coyote Motel
07/12/2020 Duração: 43minA social media "safe space" out there who is rather loud about their non-censorship is having an issue that may well test their own rules. It turns out that Parler is trying to figure out how to deal with an apparent porn problem. They pride themselves in never wanting to delete a post (for whatever reason) and having this little issue, as amusing as it has become, might be testing the very limits of what they consider "free speech". Plus a conversation taken from Radio Memphis in The Morning with Ted Drozdowski and his band Coyote Motel from Nashville. You'll also hear a cut from their latest collection of songs.NEXT WEEK: Rocky Kramer Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 355: The Turkey is A Lie & Andrew Cole
29/11/2020 Duração: 59minIt is one of the few times of the year when just about everybody is eating the exact same thing. People will go on and on about how it is their favorite meal of the year. But, is it? If people really liked the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, don't you think they would have it more than one time of the year? If people were to let their traditions down, it would cripple the turkey industry. Let's not even get started about Christmas dinner. Also, a conversation with Andrew Cole, a musician originally from Liverpool, UK and now residing in California is trying to make it through the pandemic. His view of the music industry and what the world will look like after this is interesting. Plus, a performance from Andrew Cole and his song Cover Me.NEXT WEEK: Coyote Motel Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 354: Thanksgiving & The Starlite Campbell Band
23/11/2020 Duração: 56minAs we all make our way to this year's Thanksgiving holiday, there are a few things people are needing to keep in mind about just how different this year's celebrations will be. It has been said, "If you plan on a large Thanksgiving, be sure and plan a funeral for Christmas." Dark and grim for sure. However, those are rather appropriate words as Ric will explain in this episode. Also, Ric and Eljay sat down with Suzy and Simon from The Starlite Campbell Band (who are in Portugal at the moment) to have a talk about how Covid is affecting musicians on that side of the Atlantic and to debut a new song.NEXT WEEK: Andrew Cole is living the hobo dream. Episode 353: Soho Johnny is Your Friend
16/11/2020 Duração: 50minThere are those people out there who do wonderful things. Not for themselves, but for others. It's not about ego, it's not about fame or fortune. It is a legitimate thing where certain individuals have the ability through clout, finances or whatever gift they can present which can bear down on the public at large for the greater good. One such individual is Soho Johnny. In this episode, he sits down with Ric to talk about some of the things he's into as well as an upcoming streaming event you can take part in (free) to see the magic come together for the benefit of others. All the details are right here. Also, Space X went to space, Covid-19 is still a thing and the return of your regular programming (sort of) to Radio Memphis.NEXT WEEK: The Starlite Campbell Band Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Episode 352: Quality Time With Sherry Nelson
09/11/2020 Duração: 53minIt's not an everyday thing when one gets to spend some real good quality time with a supermodel. That is exactly what Ric did. Sherry Nelson is a supermodel who has graced the pages of Maxim and other publications. She is also the co-host of Brian Sebatian's Movie Reviews and More. The conversation starts in the lumber yard and winds up with a discussion of which one was actually wearing pants. Also, the two play favorites with a new game. Plus, Ric has been asked about Parler, a social media thing. He'll explain what that is and how it won't be too long before it turns in to Lord of the Flies. 02/11/2020 Duração: 01h04minIt's a big week in America. There is this election coming up and we are all sitting in the midst of a pandemic. The truth is, we are all a bit tired of the whole thing. If you feel you are getting beat up over the news, you might want to take a look at the phenomenon that is the "Fear of Missing Out" also known as FOMO. In this episode, Ric takes a look at that concept. Also, his conversation with Mickey Burns. Mickey is the host of the television show Profiles and was instrumental in the creation of the show COPS. How did that happen? Take a listen.NEXT WEEK: A conversation with Sherry Nelson. Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 350: Doin' The New Thing & Nate Soundz
26/10/2020 Duração: 01h02minWith a show that has been around as long as From Radioland, things have to change a bit. To do this correctly, one should tread carefully into new areas unlike Ric who moves with reckless abandon. This is the "new" show and it's re-tooled format (whatever that means) and as such along comes an interview with a new artist from California, Nate Soundz plus you will hear one of his tracks. Also in this episode, Ric gets into some news from Radio Memphis in how the pandemic may have been a kick in the pants at the station, things are starting to return to some sort of "normal" (also, whatever that means) as the original shows begin to return to the air.NEXT WEEK: The world of television with Mickey Burns Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Episode 349: Change is Like the Wind, Sometimes It Blows
18/10/2020 Duração: 46minIt's come to this. At least for this moment. After a lot of behind the scenes wrangling, organization, scheduling and copious amounts of adult language, the latest chapter in the tale that is the show of From Radioland, Ric is ready to unveil all the new changes. As with any show such as this, you have to make some adjustments. Some of those adjustments aren't that easy. In the end, we hope it's worth it for you in the audience. Not that there were any real secrets here, From Radioland is evolving to it's newest format with the added bonus of one other act of defiance. What is that, you ask? Well, take a listen.NEXT WEEK: And so it begins... Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 348: It Ain't The Same
11/10/2020 Duração: 36minAs production of From Radioland begins to shift from it's current format over to a different type of show, Ric takes some time here to talk about what the podcast experience has been like for him this far. There is a notion for anyone getting into this form of entertainment of what they think they will expect. For a former broadcaster (presumably from the world of corporate radio), it is a vastly different experience. How so? Mainly, the audience. Yes, you people. This is not a bad thing at all. It's just that so many people who go from one world to the podcasting world will have their preconceived notions shattered. For something that seems so easy and straightforward has now become rather complicated. In a couple of words, audience apathy. Episode 347: Disorganization Skills
05/10/2020 Duração: 38minAs work is underway in re-tooling From Radioland, Ric takes a few moments to talk about one of the facets involved in the production of this show. It should be noted that what he mentions here can (and should be) applied to any endeavor you may partake in should it be your own podcast or your everyday work at hand. In the past, Ric has always had issues with dealing with a calendar. Sure, there are some handy digital applications out there which make the whole process easier, except Ric seems to have to make an appointment in his calendar to update his calendar. The frustration can run him and you in circles.NEXT WEEK: Audience From The Fishbowl Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 346: A Fresh Coat of Paint
28/09/2020 Duração: 36minSometimes you have to look at your surroundings and hope to come to the realization that some things have to change. That is the conclusion Ric has come to about this From Radioland. Across the podcast landscape, there are so many shows out there that get stale. Some start out that way with nary a change. Keeping it fresh is something that kind of has to happen from time to time. This show is not immune to that obviously. In the past six and a half years, From Radioland has undergone all sorts of change. It's all part of the evolutionary process. In this episode, Ric tells you a bit about just what changes are coming and what exactly led to his decision.NEXT WEEK: Organizing A Sh!t Show Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Episode 345: Post Pandemic Panic
21/09/2020 Duração: 30minOf course we are nowhere near a post pandemic situation, but that doesn't stop Ric from taking a look at how some things in our world will change from all of this. Specifically, the change coming from the world of media. We have certainly seen a change in the way certain things are covered and there has been a rise in all sorts of fake news. But if it is one thing people can do rather well, it is to adapt. Part of the adaption process will probably see an end to such fake news silliness. Certainly, the term "mainstream media" is already dead. So who do you trust? Simple. The one that is not lying to you no matter where it is coming from.NEXT WEEK: The Ever Changing World of The Podcast Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Episode 344: It's All An Act
14/09/2020 Duração: 39minEverything you consume through any sort of media is not being honest with you. It's not so much an outright lie as it is just in the manner of presentation. In this episode, Ric is going to lay out the vibe all content creators go with when it comes to the dissemination of any thing. From all your news to your music, it's all a big fat lie carefully designed to do one thing. Here's a hint, Ric will explain this by using two bands KISS & Ghost. Episode 343: Biopicture This
06/09/2020 Duração: 40minIf it were to seem you are hearing more about biopics being made about your favorite rock acts, you are not alone. There is a reason for this and it is simply because fans of the classic rock genre are getting older and frankly, no one is making any more of that music. There is a solid nostalgic factor at work. There is an issue when it comes to these things. As Ric will tell you about in this episode, the problem with these films is it gives you the chance to "meet your heroes", if you will. Although this does sort of fly into the face of the notion that you should never meet your heroes, there is an outside chance you might discover that band or musician you had admired all those years was really a giant asshole. To prevent this, writers will "Hollywood Up" these stories to show you something quite a bit different. The end result, you aren't getting the whole picture, among other things.NEXT WEEK: It's All An Act Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 342: Meme Me
30/08/2020 Duração: 35minThose ubiquitous posts the internet version of a cartoon from the Sunday paper (back when they were a thing), the picture with the funny text that isn't all that funny that gets shared and "stolen". The Meme. Most of them have a lifespan of about 3 hours. After that, they turn into most things on the internet, disposable content. In this episode Ric delves into the concept. Did you know there are some legal ramifications to the genre of the meme? Also, Ric has a rundown of all the things he's involved in plus a new Drinking with Dead People and another YouTube show drops this week.NEXT WEEK: The Rock & Roll Biopic Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast.
