Mild Peril

Jess and Danielle go see 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb!' WARNING: There are spoilers for the movie in the second half, but we only discuss the first two Night at the Museum films in the first section. Jess wants to be mummified with Akmenrah and is still One Direction obsessed, Danielle is scared of way too many things and somehow manages to bring up Nicholas Hoult twice. We both love museums (especially the American Natural History Museum, which we visited together) and owls. There are actual facts about history contained within this episode, not just talk about boys, we swear.

Jess is a life-long boy-band fan and newly made Directioner. Danielle is a rocker who has worked on two Warped Tours and barely knows anything about 1D. We are both over 25. Listen as we discuss then watch the 2013 documentary 'One Direction: This is Us.' You'll be pleasantly surprised how we react to this.

Sam and Danielle talk turkey as we watch the 2013 animated Thanksgiving film 'Free Birds.' We forgot to mention the traditions of parades, football or Black Friday, but we discuss trailers and movies with talking trees. Sam is a penguin, Danielle is scared of James Spader and we both appreciate canned cranberry sauce.

Jess, a card-carrying Power Rangers Fan Club member, has Danielle (who once again, knows little of this franchise) watch the 1995 Power Rangers movie. Danielle wants to date Skull, Jess thinks John Stamos listens to our podcast, and we both hate to admit this film is actually really great. Plus, David Lee Roth impersonations and Danielle tells a story about holding a puppy amongst sonic chaos while a historic moment happened half-way across the globe.

Danielle visits Katie in NYC and they see 'The Book of Life' together. Yes, we actually went to a current movie in theatres, it's a Mild Peril first! Danielle is concerned for her ancestors, Katie wants to celebrate Guy Fawkes Day as an excuse to burn things, Diego Luna's singing makes us swoon, and we both loved this absolutely gorgeous and hilarious movie! *WARNING* If you have not seen this movie yet, we discuss certain plot points and jokes that may be considered spoilers. Duh. I mean, still listen if you want to, but seriously don't miss out on this mariachi-filled delight.

It's spooky October and Danielle tries to face her many weird childhood fears contained within the 1987 film 'The Brave Little Toaster.' Joined by her much braver friend Talia, they get deep about infomercial products, the 'uncanny valley' theory, and altogether wish they were watching 'Toy Story' instead.

Danielle knows nothing (Jon Snow) about Avatar, so she asked superfan Jess to watch the 2010 movie version 'The Last Airbender' with her. Jess nerd rages at director M. Night Shyamalan, Danielle realizes she's actually met someone from this film in the weirdest of circumstances, and we both wish we were watching Avatar the cartoon or 'Captain America' instead.

GUYZ, WHERE ARE THE BABEZ?! Danielle is joined by her friend Jenna, who often accompanied her seeing whatever was playing at the mall movie theatre in high school, including the 2004 non-blockbuster 'Sleepover!' This film is quite silly, so prepare for the mockery. Danielle tells her Evan Peters story, Jenna just wanted to play cards at lunch in peace, and we both laugh at pre-fame Steve Carell falling down a lot. Listen with your club-hopping Mom, speaker-moving significant other, or as a one last hurrah with your BFF who's moving to Canada.

This epsiode is on fire! Danielle is joined by her friend and fellow nerd Samantha, to discuss the much overlooked 1989 Ghostbusters sequel. Danielle loves Winston Zeddemore, Sam is a font of Bobby Brown & cartoon knowledge, and we somehow get on tangents about X-Men and Star Wars. Listeners, your loveeeeee is lifting us higherrrrrrr.

Kronk is so stoked that Mild Peril is back from it's long hiatus with new weekly episodes! Yzma is not. Because she's evil.Katie and Danielle discuss the 2000 Disney animated film 'Emperor's New Groove' as well as our opinions on ponchos, henchmen, Blockbuster video, and whether turning Justin Bieber into a llama for a week would improve society.

If you're listening on the East Coast, chances are you're stuck inside! But it could be worse, you could be reliving this same day over and over like Bill Murray in the 1993 classic 'Groundhog Day.' Jess gets grossed out by too much cake, Danielle throws silly putty at people, and Katie is on hiatus for a few episodes.

As the Polar Vortex sweeps across the East Coast, we watch the 1991 Norwegian film 'Polar Bear King.' Danielle gets lost in a forest, Katie is wary of the Devil, Jess wishes Alexander Skarsgard was in this film, and we all do a bunch of silly impersonations.

We watch the appropriately chilly 2006 version of 'Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.' Danielle is a squirrel who questions too much, Katie shares fun factoids, Jess falls asleep, and we all accept Tilda Swinton as our new overlord.

We watch the 1994 Don Bluth film 'Thumbelina.' Katie loves faeries and redheads, Danielle just wants to talk about Charo, and Jess hates everything.

We watch the 1993 romantic comedy classic, 'Benny and Joon.' Danielle loves Julianne Moore and olde timey dandies, Katie hates tapioca, Jess makes Danielle laugh, and we all crush on Johnny Depp.

Hello there! Welcome to Mild Peril, where three friends discuss our memories of a G or PG film and then watch it to see how the actual movie differs, our opinions on it now versus as kids, and much more! In our first ever episode, we watch Jess' movie choice, 'The Great Mouse Detective!' Danielle laughs at Scottish accents and dog ears, Katie discusses the Robot Mouse Queen's fashion choices, and Jess does the can-can. Note: Since this is our first episode and we didn't quite have the hang of it yet, Katie's parts can get a bit loud. Apologies for this, we figure out how to fix this in the next episode.
