But this idyllic family vacation turned into a search and rescue effort when all four members of the family went missing.   • Ep110 - The Burger Chef Murders

    On November 17th, 1978, just before closing time, four young workers at a Burger Chef in Speedway, Indiana were forced out of the restaurant. A small amount of cash was taken and police found the bodies of all four workers a couple of days later. All four had been killed. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss this mysterious case. If this was a robbery gone wrong, why wasn't all of the cash taken? There are many theories that center around the fact that drug dealers played some role in this case. Authorities have had a number of very good suspects over the years but have never gotten to the point where they could put anyone away. Over 40 years on, detectives continued to work the case. And, they have some DNA so this could be one of those cases that gets solved through some of the new DNA technology and techniques that have been wrapping up so many cold cases lately.     In the early 1970s, in California, a number of women went missing while hitchhiking in the Santa Rosa and Sonoma County area. All of the women were later found dead. And the number of victims is debated but most believe there are at least 7 and mostly likely 8 victims. To make matters even worse, there were a large number of other unsolved homicides around that time in the area that could possibly be related.     In 1995, Colleen Nick and her adorable 6-year-old daughter Morgan Nick traveled to Alma, Arkansas to watch a baseball game. As the night wore on Morgan got restless and went to play with some other children at the ballpark. Colleen had a vantage point that allowed her to both watch the action on the field and keep an eye on her daughter. But as the game ended, and the crowed celebrated, Colleen lost site of Morgan and she disappeared. Join Mike and Gibby as the discuss the disappearance of Morgan Nick. The circumstances surrounding that night are pretty well known. Police have focused on a person that the kids and other witnesses have said was loitering around the ballpark that night. The person even had a brief interaction with the children before Morgan disappeared. But to date they have not been able to identify this individual.     Lauren Spierer was a 20-year-old student at Indiana University when she disappeared in 2011. Lauren went out that night with some of her male friends and police were able to find video surveillance footage from a number of sources to document where she went that night and into the next morning. Then all of sudden she was gone and was never heard from again. Early suspicion fell on some of the men that were with Lauren that night. Her family, especially, has questions for these men that have not been answered. But the men have cooperated with police. Then, in 2015, another IU student, Hannah Wilson, went missing and was later found dead. Police quickly caught her killer, a man named Daniel Messel.     Jennifer Kesse was a vivacious, independent and responsible 24-year-old woman who disappeared in Orlando, Florida in 2006. After someone called in to say he saw Jennifer's car, police were able to find video surveillance footage. The footage showed someone inside Jennifer's car for a short period of time, then they got out and walked away. Police have never been able to identify this person. The police were so sure that Daniel Wade Moore had committed this extremely brutal murder. Their first conviction win against him went off without a hitch. But, over the years, evidence started to come out that had not been turned over to the defense.
