It's a glorious Sunday for all of us! In today's video, I am going to react to one of Joel and Lia's videos titled Australian Accent Tutorial. They're a really lovely pair to watch, with entertaining contents, too! I see this video as a great opportunity for you guys to identify their Australian accent versus their native British accent. Loaded with lessons on the Australian English Pronunciation, I will point out the phonetic sounds they make - the Glottal T, the Muted T, the Australian A, the Linking Vowel sounds, and heaps of other examples. Australia was hit by a huge 5.9 magnitude earthquake this morning. The biggest in history for the state of Victoria. In today's episode, I tell you about my experience as I felt the earthquake whilst sitting down with my family at breakfast. The 2021 Australia earthquake had an epicentre located outside of Mansfield in Victoria. The earthquake was felt in the cities of Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra, and Brisbane, and throughout Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, ACT, and Queensland. I also talk about how earthquakes occur, where they occur, why Australia has earthquakes, but not the huge devastating earthquakes like those that hit Japan, Chile, North America, etc. We also talk about how earthquakes are measured. #Australia #australianearthquake #earthquakes

We recently celebrated Father's Day here in Australia - September 5th, actually - and so I got to celebrate with my family. Happy Father's Day to all dads out there! And so I read about this amusing contest in the UK for fathers to come up with the best dad joke! They even got a top-rated standup comedian be the judge. It must've been fun hearing all those jokes. Well, this week's English expression has got something to do with that contest's winning joke. And what's something that (almost) all dads want (and need!) -- cars! Woollarawarre Bennelong is an Aboriginal Australian who served as an interlocutor -- someone who informally explains the views of a government and also can relay messages back to a government. This remarkable Australian was one of the first native Australians to learn English, and as such, served as a bridge between Europeans and Aboriginal Australians. There was also a story that he was going to meet King George III at some point. Imagine wearing very different clothes, getting into a very big boat, and leaving your home to meet someone from the other side of the world. Imagine how valiant he must have been to do all this! Here's another superb advanced English pronunciation lesson for you guys! In this episode, I am going to teach you the difference between the /ɔ/ and /oː/ sounds. The /ɔ/ sound is more formally known as the open-mid back rounded vowel. On the other hand, the /oː/ sound is known as the close-mid back rounded vowel. Let's call them the long and short O sounds of the Australian English pronunciation key. First, I will teach you how to say words with the /ɔ/ sound. Then, I will teach you how to say words with the /oː/ sound. We will then practice saying minimal pairs -- yes, like cock vs cork!
