iT’S STORY GAME TiME The highs and lows of human experience? We’re here for it. So are the spontaneous story slammers who drop their name in the hat at every show. At SLAMMER OF THE YEAR, standout story picks from our latest flagship and late-night seasons get up to get down on the theme CHUTES & LADDERS. Studio guides Jessica Holmes and Leta Harris Neustaedter each champion teams of five top-ranked story slammers to make points on the games people play. (It’s like truth or consequences IRL.) They’ll first take turns sliding into plot twists on the prompt CHUTES. Then one team moves to the last rung for an elimination round that plays up LADDERS. When the game’s over, only one storyteller scores the winning title of Slammer of the Year. Talk about an all-time high. You game? • Story Story Porch Night: PURSE! DiSCUSSES

    11/10/2024 Duração: 01h26min

Stories from Boise's Deaf Community. Hosted by Timothy Blonsky, President of Idaho Association of the Deaf. James Castle was born deaf, and, while he attended Idaho’s school for deaf and blind children, he never became proficient in reading, writing, or a conventional means of communication. Even so, Castle was clearly passionate about language and communication, and created a large number of works investigating letters, signs, and symbols assembled into dizzying and ever-changing combinations. One of these is his combination of the words "Purse" and "Discusses," which individually don't mean what we think they do and yet, collectively, the piece does communicate. In honor of James Castle's creative ways of connecting, we celebrate the stories of our incredible deaf community on the back porch of his former house. Tim Blonsky, president of the Idaho Association of the Deaf , will host three featured storytellers intermixed with a community story slam (which is open to all to share on the theme). Featuring:
