  • 'Ironed Out!' Chelsea FanCast #358

    16/08/2016 Duração: 01h57min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Ross Mooring and Clayton Beerman to discuss Chelsea's season opening win against West Ham on Saturday... Chelsea kicked of their season last night with Diego Costa burying a late winner against West Ham London. Cue scenes, but most of all from new Manager Antonio Conte. How fantastic to see such passion from our manager – something evidently lacking from a certain individual last season. In some respects it was a case of déjà vu. Loads of chances created but not being clinical enough; Hazard back to his mercurial best; Costa misbehaving and incurring the wrath of a crazed media. But, so good to get off to a winning start. Ahh Chelsea and football…it’s good to have you back. On the show tonight we’ll be talking Costa – the good, the bad and the ugly and asking has Hazard got his mojo back? In part two we’ll be explaining how Kante brings balance to the force; celebrating Conte’s passion and pondering that we are not yet the finished article. In part... &

  • Countdown to Ecstasy! Chelsea FanCast #357

    08/08/2016 Duração: 01h49min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver and Dan Levene to discuss Chelsea's final pre-season match against Werder Bremen and look ahead to the season opener against West Ham London! Chelsea wrapped up their pre-season with an up and down 4-2 win against Werder Bremen yesterday but what have we really learnt? Questions still remain, especially over the somewhat shaky defence – a defence that in all probability will start against West Ham. It seems that Emenalo needs to get his finger out and get a centre back, full back and striker wrapped up before the transfer deadline and give Conte the tools he needs to mount a successful title challenge… On the show tonight we’ll give our overview of Chelsea’s pre-season and the Werder Bremen match and discuss the enigma wrapped up in an enigma – that’s Oscar to you. In part two we’ll share our fears about the defence, ask what positions in the squad still need to be filled, look ahead to next week’s season opener against West Ham London and...

  • 'Conte-nuity!' Chelsea FanCast #356

    01/08/2016 Duração: 01h50min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Ross Mooring and Mark Worrall for the first podcast of the new season! WE ARE BACK - have you missed us? We’ve missed you and we are absolutely pumped for the new season which is almost exactly 2 weeks away. You’ll be glad to know that my pre-season drinking, sorry training, has been going very well so I am raring to go – a lean mean podcasting machine. And with new manager Antonio Conte appointed we are yet again at the dawning of a new era at Chelsea. What could possibly go wrong! On the show tonight we’ll be talking Conte and asking what can we expect from him; what system will he play and will he sort the shirkers of last season out? In part two we’ll have a look at Chelsea’s pre-season to date – is it relevant, is it just a fitness exercise at best or a blatant marketing exercise at worst? We’ll also be casting our eye over the transfers and rumors therein. In part three, we’ll look at the EFL trophy and the changed kick off days and read out...

  • 'Thank Fox For That!' Chelsea FanCast #355

    16/05/2016 Duração: 01h53min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver & Clayton Beerman for the last show of the season to talk about the Leicester & Liverpool games and the continuing saga around John Terry's contract... Like a 20 stone bloke completing a marathon, Chelsea limped to the end of the season with a 1-1 draw against the Champions. And finally, it’s over, this annus horribilis of a season. Hopefully we can wake up in August and pretend that it never happened. I for one wish the applauding of Leicester players and their goal had never happened – another poor indictment of modern football and its fans. All of this and John Terry’s emotive on-pitch speech to the fans – was it farewell or will we see him leading us out next season? On the show tonight we’ll be asking what the applauding of the Leicester players and their goal was all about and we’ll be looking at the JT saga with the offer of a new contract – a genuine attempt to keep him at the club or a cynical PR stunt? In part two we’ll have a look...

  • 'This is the End?' Chelsea FanCast #354

    09/05/2016 Duração: 01h44min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver and Tony Glover to discuss the woeful loss against Sunderland and much much worse what looks like being the end for 'Captain, Leader, Legend' John Terry. As if this shithouse of a season wasn’t bad enough, losing to Sunderland after being 2-1 up was royally capped off by Captain Leader Legend JT being sent off in the last minute. His red card brings with it a 2 match ban thereby meaning that it might well be the last time we see JT in a Chelsea shirt. Is this the end for JT? If so what a horrible way to end the career of arguably Chelsea’s greatest ever player. If only the end of this shambles of a season could come quicker. On the show tonight we’ll be asking if this really is the end for JT and asking if he is Chelsea’s greatest ever player. In part two we’ll be asking why Guus ignored the youth again and has his 2nd tenure in charge been all that. We’ll discuss the massive job that Conte has on his hands – and will he actually be allowed to...

  • '55 Years...55 More!' Chelsea FanCast #353

    03/05/2016 Duração: 01h54min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Chelsea writer Mark Worrall and Chelsea journalist Dan Levene to try and catch our breath after a visceral and cracking evening at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea kept their unbeaten home record intact and derailed Sp*rs title aspirations. Last night ably demonstrated why football is the greatest game in the world. From the depths of despair at half time to the resurrection in the second, the game crackled like a 10 pound firework. But most important of all Chelsea’s feckless team of malcontents and shirkers finally turned up when it mattered to ensure we kept our 26 year home unbeaten run intact and put a nail in the coffin of Sp*rs title aspirations whilst delivering the most improbable title of all to Leicester and our old gaffer Ranieri. What more could you want – blood, thunder and Eden Hazard - football bloody hell! On the show tonight we’ll be prostrating ourselves in front of Eden Hazard and offering eternal gratitude for keeping the North London Cocks...

  • 'Oh We Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!' Chelsea FanCast #352

    25/04/2016 Duração: 01h56min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Clayton Beerman and Tony Glover to discuss a great away trip to the seaside, oh and the small matter of a victory in a football match against the mighty Bournemouth! What a great away trip Bournemouth was – sun, sea and drinking with some great mates all day and for once the football didn’t get in the way of a good day out, with Chelsea cantering to a 4-1 win – or did they? In spite of the alcohol infused warm glow of victory, the nagging doubt remains that Bournemouth had their towel laid out on the sun lounger slightly ahead of Chelsea. Oh well at least Hazard scored for the first time in the league this season and the players were left with no doubt about the importance of beating Spurs next week. On the show tonight we’ll be asking why did Hiddink play Mikel at Centre Back and what happened to the youth players he was supposed to be playing. In part two I will attempt to have a reasoned debate about Fabregas – is he a flat track bully or...  S

  • 'Disintegration!' Chelsea FanCast #351

    18/04/2016 Duração: 01h51min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Chelsea author and ESPN blogger Mark Worrall and the 'Reverend' Tony Glover to discuss the shambles that was the 3-0 defeat to Man City on Saturday. Another Saturday, another top day in the pubs before and after interrupted by a very poor 90 minutes of football. To be honest I thought we’d probably lose to City but the shambolic and passionless way in which we lost was depressing even by this horrible season’s standard. As a Chelsea supporter you can accept it when your team has no talent or if the opposition is just better than you but what you cannot accept are players with talent who show no passion, fight or seem not to care for the club or the supporters. The way their heads dropped when the second goal went in and they succumbed to the inevitability of it all and basically gave up was just so so depressing. On the show tonight we’ll be asking why we were so shambolic and should Hiddink take some of the blame? In part two we’ll be assessing Ruben... &nbs

  • 'Pointless!' Chelsea FanCast #350

    11/04/2016 Duração: 01h48min

We celebrate the 350th Chelsea FanCast tonight - the defeat to Swansea not so much! Join Stamford Chidge, Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver and Chelsea journalist Dan Levene as they discuss the match against Swansea and all things Chelsea plus a special interview with former Chelsea player and TalkSport and Chelsea TV presenter Jason Cundy. On the show tonight we’ll be discussing the conundrum of playing the youth and disinterested senior players whilst expecting decent results and asking was Guus right to ‘yank’ off young Miazga? In part two we’ll be asking who gives a shit – the Players; Manager; Club; the Supporters? We’ll also be rounding up this week’s Chelsea news on new manager Conte, potential departures and JT’s future. In part three, we have a special interview with Jason Cundy recorded earlier this week where I asked him about this season; Conte and what needs to happen this summer. To wrap up in part four we’ll have the usual round up of Chelsea supporter news and we’ll be announcing...  S

  • 'Breaking Me Duck!' Chelsea FanCast #349

    04/04/2016 Duração: 01h49min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver and the man who made Gate 17 famous - Mark Worrall - to discuss Chelsea's win against Villa and all things Chelsea! So the duck finally made his debut against Villa on Saturday and the Chelsea faithful went quackers – first chanting “we forgot that you were here” and then after he scored his debut goal from the spot “we were there when Pato scored” – it was great to see that he didn’t duck out of the challenge and prove finally that he is more mighty duck than lame duck. I’m going to stop this now before you lot tell me to duck off! On the show tonight we’ll be talking about Pato’s debut and asking does he have a future at Chelsea, and talking of Chelsea’s future it was good to finally see some of the yoof getting a chance. In part two we’ll ask should we have sympathy for the Villains and what’s left to play for this season. In part three, we’ll be saying Announce Conte; asking what’s up with the Belgians and we’ll be bidding a sad...  See

  • 'Life in the Old Dog yet?' Chelsea FanCast #348

    21/03/2016 Duração: 01h44min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver and the legendary 'Reverend' Grocer Jack to discuss the draw against West Ham and all things Chelsea. On the show tonight we’ll be asking were Chelsea dominated and lucky to get a draw or did the players show some fight to prove they haven’t downed tools for the summer…yet! In part two we’ll ask why did Guus start Remy instead of Traore; is Fabregas showing future captaincy potential; has Courtois lost confidence and is Oscar one of the most disappointing Chelsea players of all time? In part three, thanks to Chelsea having no midweek football for the foreseeable future, we’ll be throwing the show open to our listeners in mixlr and inviting them to ask questions of the panel – a Chelsea FanCast Question Time if you like. • 'Reality Bites!' Chelsea FanCast #347

    14/03/2016 Duração: 01h48min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Dan Silver, Clayton Beerman and Chelsea author and football writer Mark Worrall to digest a somewhat depressing week for Chelsea. It’s hard to remember a worse week in recent times following Chelsea as we limply exited both the Champions League and the FA Cup. All this seemed to be compounded by Costa apparently being sent off for biting Everton’s Gareth Barry – whilst all of us can understand the desire to do Barry serious injury, thankfully Costa pulled his chompers away at the last second thereby avoiding a dreaded Luis Suarez scenario. In reality the only thing to bite was the realization that these two defeats mean that our season is over by March for the first time since the 90’s and an uncertain future awaits the club, players and supporters alike. On the show tonight we’ll be discussing what the Cost of Costa is to the club - is he a liability worth putting up with and with Lukaku scoring twice to put us out of the Cup – should the Chelsea brains trust be... &nb

  • 'Naughty 40!' Chelsea FanCast #346

    07/03/2016 Duração: 01h52min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver and the 'Reverend' Tony Glover from the Podding Shed Podcast to discuss Chelsea's matches against Stoke and Norwich. Yep that’s right Chelsea have reached the points tally of 40 which means we have avoided relegation this year…probably. Joking aside, it was a disappointing week in hindsight as we clung on to win 2-1 away at Norwich and then snatched a draw from the jaws of victory at home against Stoke on Saturday, thus ending our 3 match winning streak. Were Guus Hiddink’s substitutions in both games at fault or are the players still not firing on all cylinders, or is the crazy old Dutchman merely prioritizing wins in the Champions League and FA Cup. On the show tonight we’ll be discussing what went wrong with the substitutions against Norwich and Stoke and asking has the team progressed under Guus and has the Dutchman given us false hope? In part two we’ll be asking if Guus is prioritizing the Champions League and FA Cup at the...  S

  • 'Brana-nised!' Chelsea FanCast #345

    29/02/2016 Duração: 01h44min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver and Clayton Beerman to discuss Chelsea's win against Southampton and all things Chelsea! I don’t know what it is about Southampton away, but it certainly seems to be a big favourite of so many Chelsea supporters, myself included. Nothing quite like the irony of an away day that is just down the road. Great day out, loads of mates, a decent friendly pub and cheap beer. What’s not to like! It seemed to appeal to Chelsea as well as they battled through a poor performance to grind out a win against a side that had not shipped a goal or lost in 6 games. Maybe like the mellifluous water of the Rivers Itchen and Test, the tide for Chelsea is turning. On the show tonight we’ll be discussing the apparent return of Chelsea’s mental strength; applauding an important win and asking was Guus too ruthless in hooking Baba off? In part two we’ll be asking if the likes of Fabregas and Brana have really shaken off their poor early season form and is Guus... &

  • 'Citizens Caned!' Chelsea FanCast #344

    23/02/2016 Duração: 01h52min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Ross Mooring and Tim Rolls, Chairman of the Chelsea Supporters Trust to discuss the games against Man City and PSG. Chelsea gave City’s youth a spanking with 5 of the best on Sunday to march onward to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, which for most supporters I know is still massive. Sadly the TV, the FA and most of all clubs like Man City seem to disagree. In fielding what was tantamount to a youth side, City basically threw the tie and in my opinion hugely disrespected the tradition of the greatest cup competition in world football. And they call us a plastic club with no history! Anyway, Eden Hazard wasn’t complaining and put in a performance redolent of last season with 3 assists and a superb goal. But is the little Belgian as happy as a Trappist monk after a night on the ale or is it all waffle? On the show tonight we’ll be discussing why the FA Cup needs to be respected and its traditions upheld and has Eden Hazard finally found his mojo? In part... &

  • 'Who Ate All The Magpies?' Chelsea FanCast #343

    15/02/2016 Duração: 01h54min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Levene and Mark Worrall to discuss the destruction of Newcastle on Saturday and a look ahead to the games against PSG and City. Love was most definitely in the air on Saturday as we enjoyed one of the best days of this doom laden season. For once the excellent pre and post-match was matched on the pitch as Chelsea romped home to an easy 5-1 win against Newcastle. But, were we really that good or were Newcastle quite simply abject? Has the Chelsea juggernaut turned round or will we be talking about our season being over on next week’s show. Maybe we should just enjoy the moment, like the first body tingling kiss of a new and exciting relationship. On the show tonight we’ll be asking was this a good win for Chelsea or were Newcastle just easy pickings and while the front three maybe firing on all cylinders do we still have an issue in midfield? In part two we’ll be asking who should play in the number 10 role for Chelsea – Fabregas; Hazard; Willian or... &

  • 'Drawing Conclusions' Chelsea FanCast #342

    08/02/2016 Duração: 01h52min

Stamford Chidge is joined by Dan Silver, Clayton Beerman and Ross Mooring to discuss the somewhat tepid draws with Man Utd and Watford and ask why Guus is being so cautious? Arguably one of the most tepid games in recent years between Chelsea and Man Utd yesterday as two teams clearly way below their title winning levels stumbled to a 1-1 draw. Why is Guus playing it safe rather than going for the win – are we really that devoid of talent and belief? What does he have to lose – absolutely nothing? But when all is said and done, at least we have stopped losing, so perhaps we should be thankful for that. It all adds up to a lot of disgruntlement from the supporters with Chelsea at the moment though, with the torpor on the pitch only matched by the lack of atmosphere off it. I had a great time in the pub before mind… On the show tonight we’ll be saying good luck to King Kurt Happy Zouma who looked to have sustained a season ending injury yesterday and ask how will we cope without him? We’ll also ask...
