  • KATY PERRY

    26/05/2020 Duração: 16min

Where are you with your dreams? Are you still pursuing them? Are you living them? Have they been put on a shelf or have some been taken from you? Katy Perry is a woman with dreams and I am so thrilled for her that one of her BIG dreams is coming true - the dream of motherhood. Katy broke the news to her fans through - what else - music! With her single, "Never Worn White" and she's now released another chart-topper, "Daisies." Of "Daisies" she tells me, it's about the noise... All the racket that can occur when you 're working toward a dream when others, even well-meaning family and friends, want to weigh in, and how important it is to create your own path in life. She also says it speaks to the times we're living in now. The "pause" button has been pressed and we're all anxious for "play" to resume, and when that happens, all of us need to take our dreams off the shelf and start living them! Mental health is beginning to lose the stigma its been wrapped in for much of recent history, but there is sooo much work still to be done, and sooo many conversation still to be had on this topic. Singer, songwriter, activist, and scholar, Jewel, has spent much of her adult life researching and enacting effective ways to deal with anxiety and depression, and then share her work with the world. She'll tell you (and I'll agree with her) that as obsessed as we all are with "hacks" they simply don't exist for getting through grief and emotional healing. What does work? • JEWEL

    24/03/2020 Duração: 15min

Show of hands for all of you who love singer/songwriter Jewel... Mine's up in the air! Since her break-out hit, "Hands" in the fall of 1998, this sweet and sparkly Jewel is much beloved, but I'm willing to guess that many of you are just as clueless as I was as to the absolute powerhouse of intellect this woman is! Raised in circumstances of dire need, without the security most of us have always taken for granted, Jewel has always been a crafty survivor, but she has grown into so much more. Her philanthropy stretches across continents and is also strongly felt on our shores. She started by offering to others, who were looking for ways to bolster their mental health, the coping practices she developed for herself during a brief time of homelessness. From there, she's developed several more projects, each targeted at helping vulnerable populations. Her latest work is a film, "Lost In America" about our homeless youth, and of course, her own music provides the soundtrack. The single, "No More Tears" is out now,

His lion heart led him through the pain of his injuries, surgeries, and months of grueling therapy to the love of his life, Kristi. The two now walk together through life and feel like they can face any challenge it has to offer. David has released a CD, and companion book, called LIONHEART; an inspiring story of love, forgiveness, and the power of music. • ELIZABETH ST.HILAIRE

    11/02/2020 Duração: 36min

This Valentine's Day podcast episode is all about The Heart. Specifically, about the Healing Heart... and even more specifically, how art can be a soothing balm for an aching heart. My guest, Elizabeth St. Hilaire, is a successful artist, teacher, author and innovator. I stumbled onto her work when I was grieving deeply, and found submerging myself into the art techniques she developed (and went on to share with the world,) had an immensely therapeutic and transformative effect. Elizabeth's own heart is made of gold, and she and I have become good friends. I'm so happy that she agreed to join me on LOVE SOMEONE to encourage anyone and everyone to give art and creativity another try. If you've experienced a loss and/or find yourself in place of vulnerability, or if you're the type to proclaim that you don't have any talent or aren't creative... this episode is for you. • SANTA & JOHN CHURCHILL

    24/12/2019 Duração: 19min

There's a wonderful organization in the Chicago area called Santa's Volunteers, who generously enable hundred of families (nearly 1000!) to celebrate the holidays with food, gifts, and the basic necessities of a cold mid-western winter. John Churchill is the chairman of the board, and he met with me at the Museum of Radio Broadcasting to tell me all about this amazing group of glad tidings. Another guy dropped in also - he was wearing a fuzzy red suit, trimmed in fur. He had a snowy white beard, rosy red cheeks, eyes that twinkled, and lots of ho ho holiday spirit! 4 of my kids joined us too - won't you? • DELILAH

    26/11/2019 Duração: 24min

On today's episode of LOVE SOMEONE with Delilah, I'm celebrating this season of gratitude with you! The most common question I'm asked, is how I've continued to do what I do for all the years I've been doing it? (Radio that is!) And the answer is this - because of the amazing stories my listeners share with me, and the thread of gratitude that seems to run through them all. Life is a stormy adventure to be sure, but those that not only survive, but thrive, have one thing in common - an attitude of gratitude. And these are the folks that inspire me day after day, to get up, to do my radio program, to care for my family, and to LIVE! Live to the fullest, grateful for all I've ever experienced, all the experiences yet to come, and holding nothing back... Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving my friends, I am so very grateful for all of you. ~ Delilah Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  • SHELTER FROM THE STORM

    19/11/2019 Duração: 38min

In the studio with me today is Wayne Chimenti, a retired tall boat captain, and an active program director and mentor to youth involved in The Community Boat Project of Port Hadlock, a maritime community in Washington State. Wayne is accompanied by a few of his interns working on the Shelter From The Storm, program, a subset of the larger organization that is busy building tiny homes. I found Wayne and his group of merry builders when trolling through on-line classified ads late one evening. I ran across a tiny home for sale that caught my fancy. When I made further inquiries, not only did I learn about the item that had been posted, I found about an incredible group of people working to better the lives of students through some amazing experiential learning. I had to have these folks share their work and their mission with you on LOVE SOMEONE with Delilah. • KRISTIN CHENOWETH

    12/11/2019 Duração: 14min

With me today on LOVE SOMEONE with Delilah, is Emmy and Tony Award winner singer, actor, educator, and downright beauty, inside and out, Ms. Kristin Chenoweth. I became a fan of Kristin's after watching her perform on Broadway in Wicked. In fact, I saw her in that role at least three times! Kristin has a new album out, "For the Girls," a celebration of music’s most passionate women from one of Broadway’s most vibrant stars. It includes songs such as “The Way We Were,” (Streisand) “When I Fall in Love” (Garland) and - my favorite - "Desperado" (Ronstadt). If you're lucky, you can catch Kristin this November at one of only 8 performances on Broadway as she premiers the songs from this new hit album. In addition to her singing and acting career, Kristin's heart is in coaching and supporting the arts through the Kristin Chenoweth Arts and Education Foundation. This started after the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center, in her home town of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, named a theater after her. Kristin felt a resp

  • CATHY PARKER

    08/10/2019 Duração: 31min

Cathy Parker was a bank employee, a wife, and a mother of 4 student athletes. She didn't have a lot of money, or power, and had ZERO knowledge of artificial athletic turf... but when her children called to her to watch a documentary about a  town in the northern reaches of Alaska, struggling to keep kids safe, engaged, and in school, she took action! Cathy answered a whisper in her heart, which led to a whole lotta shouting on the sidelines! Her book, "Northern Lights" tells the story of how she was able to get an artificial athletic field, purchased, transported, and installed in a town with no roads in or out. And, how she changed countless lives in the process, but none so much as her own. Northern Lights was my book club pick for August - check it out on my web site - and join us for this inspiring episode of LOVE SOMEONE with Delilah! ~ Delilah Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  • KERRY TYMCHUK

    24/09/2019 Duração: 19min

Today I welcome a guest into my studio who has spent his life in public service. Once upon a childhood, he was my neighbor, my classmate, and my friend. Today he is everyone's neighbor and friend. Kerry Tymchuk has worn many professional hats - first as a young public prosecutor, then on to several roles in Washington DC, and then back to Oregon where he is now the Director of the Oregon Historical Society. He's the son of a small town merchant/mayor, and a teacher; their attendance at every community meeting and event were almost guaranteed. Kerry, and his brother Keith, grew up with that ideal of service and have now become the models their parents once were. Keith (who I may have had a little tiny crush on...) became a teacher and returned to our home town where he too has served as mayor, and together with his wife, Jennifer (also a teacher), and children, are enmeshed in the fabric of the community.  In between official roles, Kerry has co-written 8 books with individuals who have had big impacts on

  • ELTON JOHN

    17/09/2019 Duração: 21min

I fell in love with Elton John's music waaaaaay back in the day with hits like Honkey Cat, Island Girl, and Crocodile Rock... I've played his songs, been to his concerts, and even had the chance to interview him a time or two, but NEVER did I have a sense that I really knew the man behind the giant sequined sunglasses until I watched the biopic, Rocket Man! On this episode of LOVE SOMEONE, Elton and I have an absolutely lovely conversation about the movie, and how closely it resembles his life, his music - old and new - his past addictions and current sobriety, the changes of perspective and motivations that children bring, and of course, his Farewell Concert Tour. What and incredible man! Join us, (and listen for this gem, "The philosophy of getting sober is helping others." Amen!) ~ Delilah Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  • DELILAH

    10/09/2019 Duração: 27min

It's back to school time around the country, so I thought there would be no better way to kick-off September than with an episode honoring educators! I dialed up a couple of teachers that have had a huge impact on my life; Coach Jim Wells, who was an history teacher and an athletic coach for many many years in my home town of Reesdport, Oregon, and who, with his wife Mary Ann, also a retired teacher, continues to be a vital presence in our community. And Mike Allen, choral director of the high school three of my kids attended. He shares his passion for music with his students by creating some of the MOST AMAZING programs including an annual Madrigal Feaste and Broadway production that give students an opportunity to showcase their creative abilities as well as their musical talents. • KIM BOGUCKI

    27/08/2019 Duração: 47min

Joining me today is a good friend, a career police officer, and the co-founder of an amazing organization called The IF Project; a collaboration of law enforcement, currently and previously incarcerated adults and community partners focused on intervention, prevention and reduction in the number of women incarceration and recidivism. The project is centered around individuals sharing their personal stories about incarceration. As Kim says, we ALL have stories, the felon, the police, the person you're standing next to. Finding the common denominator in our stories and tapping into the human connection, will help us to figure out the "what IF?" and take the steps necessary to change a life.  Join us for a conversation that may challenge your perception of incarcerated women and hopefully inspire you to be someone that's the "IF" to another's story.  ~ Delilah Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
