  • Finishing Well

    16/09/2024 Duração: 01h04min

In this sermon we focus on the Apostle Paul's final words to his young protege, Timothy. Paul, nearing the end of his life, reflects on his journey, likening the Christian life to a race and a fight that requires endurance and faithfulness. Paul’s life serves as a powerful example of steadfastness, having endured numerous hardships, yet remaining faithful to his mission and calling. Paul's words from a Roman prison cell are filled with both a sense of completion and a forward-looking hope. He speaks of being poured out as a drink offering, signifying his life of sacrifice and service. He confidently states that he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. This is not a boastful claim but a magnification of God's grace and strength that sustained him through his ministry. Paul's life and letter encourages Timothy to endure hardship, to remain faithful, looking forward to the eternal rewards promised by God. Paul also highlights the importance of Christian community and relation

  • Preach The Word

    08/09/2024 Duração: 55min

In this sermon, we explore the reality that pastors are responsible for faithfully preaching and teaching God’s word both inside the church and outside it even when it is opposed. Paul repeatedly stresses the need for healthy, biblical teaching. Scripture, being God-breathed, is the ultimate source of truth, profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. It equips believers for every good work. Paul's charge to Timothy is serious and weighty, given in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead. This charge carries tones accountability and authority that come with preaching the Word. Timothy is urged to preach in season and out of season, to reprove, rebuke, and exhort with complete patience and teaching. He msut do this knowing a time will come when people will not endure sound teaching but will seek teachers to suit their own passions, turning away from the truth.

In this sermon, we see that God wants us to have realistic expectations about living in a fallen world and avoid ungodly influences and follow godly examples. In 2 Timothy 3, the Apostle Paul provides a sobering yet realistic worldview, acknowledging the pervasive sinfulness of humanity and the inevitable difficulties that come with living in a fallen world. Paul prepares Timothy for these challenges, Christian or not, wewill face hardships such as financial, health, and relational issues. Paul wanted Timothy to have realistic expectations about life and ministry in a broken world while maintaining hope in the ultimate return of Christ, who will make all things new. Paul warns Timothy about the characteristics of people in the last days, describing them as lovers of self, money, and pleasure rather than lovers of God. These individuals will exhibit traits like arrogance, abusiveness, and a lack of self-control, making life difficult for those around them. Paul advises Timothy to avoid such people and inste

  • Being Trained By Grace

    21/07/2024 Duração: 52min

In this sermon, we explored how those who have experienced the saving grace of Jesus should give evidence of the sanctifying grace of Jesus. Paul’s letter to Titus makes two biblical truths clear, that salvation comes from the saving grace of Jesus, and this grace trains and empowers godly living rich with good works. May we not accept a version of Christianity that does not accompany a transformed life or one that puts all the weight of that change desired upon human strength and discipline. Gospel grace saves and sanctifies us. Paul wrote this letter addressing a culture that was marked by laziness, indulgence and wickedness (Titus 1:12). So they needed to be taught that Christ died to redeem them and make them his own special people zealous for good works (Titus 2:14). They needed to know not only how they had been rescued and redeemed by grace but also what they were saved for, namely good works (Ephesians 2:8-10). Paul reminded them to be ready for every good work and to be careful to be devoted t

  • A Life Of Godliness

    14/07/2024 Duração: 56min

In this sermon we focus on Titus 1, emphasizing the importance of godliness that is to accompany those who know and believe the truth of the gospel of grace. Paul instructs Titus to identify and appoint leaders in Crete who exemplify godly character and conduct, setting a standard for the church to follow. These leaders should be above reproach, not arrogant or quick-tempered, but hospitable, self-controlled, holy and disciplined. Their lives should reflect the transformative power of the gospel, demonstrating that true godliness springs from knowing the truth and believing the gospel of grace. Paul's introduction in Titus is rich with theological truths, He underscores that he was sent by Jesus for the faith of God’s chosen people (elect) and so that they may posses the knowledge of the truth and live godly lives, rooted in the knowledge of the truth. Paul warns against false teachers and apparently a form of legalism, urging Titus to confront those who spread deceptive teachings for personal gain.

  • Behold God's Awesome Works

    07/07/2024 Duração: 54min

In this sermon we looked into Psalm 66, a powerful call to worship and praise God for His awesome deeds. The Psalms have long been a source of spiritual nourishment, providing us with the vocabulary to engage with God in prayer and worship. Psalm 66 begins with a global call to worship, urging all the earth to shout for joy and sing praises to God. This call is not superficial but deeply rooted in the recognition of God's mighty works, both in creation and in redemption. We explored how humanity is naturally wired to express joy and excitement, often seen in our reactions to sports events. If we can get so animated over a game, how much more should we express our joy and gratitude to God, who has redeemed us and brought us into His kingdom? The psalmist moves from a global perspective to a national and then a personal one, highlighting that worship is fitting for all because God is the Creator and Redeemer. The sermon emphasized that our joy and God's glory are not at odds. In fact, they are deeply intertw

  • The Key To True Gain

    30/06/2024 Duração: 40min

In this sermon from Robert Reid on 1 Timothy 6, he highlights how the Apostle Paul contrasts the destructive path of those who love money with the life of contentment and godliness. Paul warns that the love of money leads to temptation, snares, and ultimately, ruin and destruction. Instead, we are called to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness. These virtues reflect a life that is aligned with God's character and leads to true contentment. This sermon also focuses on the importance of recognizing true doctrine and being wary of false teachers who stir up controversy for personal gain. Paul encourages Timothy to focus on the ultimate goal of eternal life and to remain steadfast in his faith, even in the face of trials. This focus shapes our lives, much like an athlete preparing for the Olympics or a soldier readying for battle. Paul's practical advice to the rich is to not be arrogant or set their hopes on uncertain riches but on God, who provides everything for our enj

  • No Matter What

    10/06/2024 Duração: 40min

In this sermon, Pastor Nebiye expounds on Philippians 1:12-14, where the Apostle Paul, despite being imprisoned, speaks of the advancement of the gospel. This passage is a powerful reminder that our circumstances, no matter how dire, can serve God's greater purpose. Paul’s imprisonment, rather than hindering his mission, actually propelled the gospel forward, reaching even the Imperial Guard. This teaches us that our joy and purpose are not contingent on our circumstances but are rooted in God. Paul’s life exemplifies that we can find joy in God in every season. He shows us that God can use us right where we are, even in the most unlikely situations. Paul’s imprisonment became a platform for the gospel, demonstrating that God’s work is not limited by our conditions. This is a call for us to reframe our understanding of our trials and to see them as opportunities for God to work through us. Moreover, Paul’s experience teaches us the importance of interpreting our circumsta
