  • Twitter is Now Owned by Elon Musk

    30/10/2022 Duração: 38min

What will Elon Musk do with Twitter? Why did he buy it?Simply put, I don’t know. However, I am a fan of Elon Musk, and I am optimistic about the future of Twitter. It needed a reset. Musk has often stated that he wants to champion “free speech” on the platform. Elon has suggested he would reconsider Twitter’s approach to content moderation and permanent bans from the platform, all of which could impact the political landscape. At the same time, Musk has reassured advertisers that he doesn’t plan to turn the platform into a “free-for-all hellscape.” In my opinion, Elon also very rightly has mentioned his desire to rid the platform of bots. So much so, that he made the number of bots central to his argument to abandon the deal during this roller coaster ride of the last six months. The notion that Twitter may also expand the idea of paid subscriptions has also arisen. I, so far, have no issue with this overall concept. I already subscribe to Twitter Blue and feel this would certainly cut down on fake accounts a

Twitter has incorporated Twitter Spaces into its app, the Wisdom app recently celebrated a one-year anniversary, and Fireside has the feel of a production/broadcast app for audio and video. There are numerous audio-oriented apps coming out, seemingly all the time. This episode was recorded LIVE on the Wisdom app. We discuss the impact of social audio on social media and toward that of podcasting with several social audio creators.

  • The Browns Trade - The Practicality of What It Means and Was It Worth It?

    15/08/2022 Duração: 28min

The Cleveland Browns are evidently standing behind the Deshaun Watson trade for the long haul. The Browns are not reconsidering the $230 million contract and do not want back the six draft picks they sent to the Houston Texans for Watson. The commentary in this podcast covers two facets. One, the banter on social media and sports talk radio has been very much misguided regarding the various allegations that were put forth against Watson. Also, what this trade has done to the brand that is the Cleveland Browns has largely not been covered. Although, the boos at the Browns’ pre-season game with the Jacksonville Jaguars may be a wakeup call for what may be coming throughout the season. Everybody wants a winning team and ultimately a Super Bowl. However, controversy aside, this deal does not guarantee anything. Was it worth the public relations risk? And the enormous money?

The tragedy of Anne Heche, whose rescue from a fiery crash played out on live TV and has been recirculated on social media, is a perfect example. Her final moments have been reduced to social media fodder at the expense of her family and loved ones. This was a human being. We can do better.
