In this episode, we politick with recording artist and songwriter Ms. Proper.Ms Proper began writing at the age of eight under the influence of her poetic mother. After years of transforming her craft and exploring the recording process it wasn't until 2005 that she began to take her career as a musician more seriously. With her heart into music, she created So Proper Entertainment and employed a roster of other talented artists in the Virginia area to whom she executive produced albums for. However, her love for music broadened once listeners requested that she release her own compilation of songs for them to enjoy, which birthed her debut mixtape, Addicted To The Game.In 2007, Ms Proper was selected to perform in her first show at the Byrd Theatre in Richmond, Virginia. In this episode, we politick with Portland, Oregon hip hop artist Free5ive.Growing up in inner city Portland, Free5ive's passion for music started at an early age. He developed a love for many genres of music including hip hop, R&B , funk, classic rock, and country music. Although, while growing up his first love was basketball, he began to use music to express himself as he battled the impoverished gang infested environment that surrounded him. During adolescence 5ive dealt with legal issues and eventually began writing raps to help deal with the anger he felt towards the world. By age 17, 5ive had already recorded numerous remixes to industry classics and a began to record a catalog of original tracks, with heavy influences from Tupac, 50 cent and Lil Wayne. In this episode, we politick with Elete Wright 1/3 of the hip hop group St Joe Louis.Turning open studio sessions into the syndicate called Cloud Club and one member turning a warehouse rave into a genre bending event known as #Thread, it's no wonder a painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat, NJ , and LA have everything to do with each other in the eyes of the group St. Joe Louis. After parting ways with their first label, a car accident and losing loved ones perseverance has become second nature for this New Jersey/Los Angeles based group. However for this group comprised of Elete Wright, Michael Cardigan and Tom Chase the wait is almost over. In 2010 they worked with J.R and PH7 releasing New High 7' through Personal Records from Vienna, Austria and their first EP also alongside J.R and PH7 "My Favourite Demons" through Pro-Keds & Soulspazm in 2012.
